"My Partner and I were staying in the hotel just up the road and were in the area for Crufts. I came across the reviews of this pub on faebook and on here and we thought we would try it. We arrived at on...Saturday after to an empty pub so the owners were able to find us a table, having said that all tables were booked for later in the day so the locals obviously book in advance. The staff on duty (two gentlemen) were very friendly and welcoming. The menu is available online and i did have a peek on iur journey down but couldnt make my mind up... we started with a shared cheese garlic bread which was amazing the cheese was delicious, i went with the chicken fajitas which were amazing, only two which you made up but two was more than enough this was due to the side salad and the hot chicken stir fry type filling which tasted amazing. My partner has the chicken and steak peppercorn with chips and he fully enjoyed it. The portion sizes are brilliant and at excellent prices. Same for the drinks prices. The decor is lovely in the pub and it is very clean and well kept. We fully recommend and will definately return next year."

Lovely meal again at this lovely pub. Food was excellent as always. So love the Stilton chicken. Service was excellent. My friend said her burger was great and very tasty. Plenty of parking. Great atmosphere.

We found this pub while boating through Ansty, and it is a great place to stop for a meal. We had a warm welcome, the menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The service and food were good. And they had Theakstons Old Peculier' on...draft which was an added bonus!

Imaginative menu based on pub food but with a twist. Friendly staff and conveniently close to the Oxford Canal for passing boaters. Really good social distancing and high standard of anti-viral cleaning maintained throughout. Limited hours so phone ahead when they are open! Ver carta

Wow What a Gem of a Pub/Restaurant. Warm greeting upon arrival, seated immediately and drinks order taken whilst viewing the menu. An incredible diverse menu with so many choices, especially for such a small establishment. The food when arrived was piping hot and obviously...freshly prepared. Definitely a place that I'll be revisiting.

Tried calling from mid day to early evening to book a table but calls were not answered. Eventually walked from the canal to the restaurant when we arrived, entered the pub which was very busy and asked if there was any chance of a table...for dinner. No sorry we are very busy, I could hear the phone ringing in the background and no one answering it, clearly too busy to and the phone and tell people they are too busy. Menu looked good and seems to have a good reputation. Ended up taking a taxi to the Boat inn, good basic food and beer

On the website it says a warm welcome, what a joke. My husband and I were staying nearby and went for a drink on a Monday afternoon. We were greeted with were closing soon. Not the welcome you want to receive. I felt like I...was intruding instead of being a customer. Then a lady the staff knew came in and all changed. people came after us looking for food, nothing was said and food was served. Later we went back to be told the pub closed at ????. The lady said it with such glee on her face. I don't know how they make money with the hours they open. Wouldn't go back or recommend this pub. Horrible waitress is so rude. Ver carta

Let me stress that I like this pub. I will continue to go, but I have ongoing niggles which could be easily addressed, but thus far haven’t. The Sunday lunch is good but someone in the kitchen is an abject failure at making Yorkshire pudding....To be honest they would be better off buying them in rather than trying to make them. They are as flat as a pancake. Secondly, cauliflower cheese.... insipid. Guys/girls the hint is in the title.....cheese.....it was runny and pretty devoid of cheese. Grate some cheese on the top then put it under the grill put some English mustard in it, or just google a recipe for cauliflower cheese, but don’t serve up cauliflower covered in the equivalent of whitew...

I took my parents for a meal out and as they are elderly they are a bit fussy. However, all the main courses were good. Stilton chicken went down well. Steak and mushroom pie wasn't a pie at all. Why restaurants insist on calling a...bowl of stew (or similar) with a pastry lid on top a pie is a misrepresentation. A pie should have a pastry case, not just a bit of pastry on top. Anyway, I digress. This was very tasty; the Wellington pie was identical but with a sliver of pate under the pastry. We had desserts. The Drambuie ice cream was enjoyed but the so called Double-chocolate cheesecake was bland. like a plain mousse on a biscuit base with little flavour. The pub was busy due to the Help o...

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
