"These guys take in excess of a half hour to scoop food from a bain marie onto plates. Easily sitting starving for fourty five minutes before food arrives. I've ran kitchens by myself, including this place when it was the Elk, serving in excess of 2500 customers for lunch, same again for dinners (student bars). Longest anyone ever waited for food was 10 minutes from ordering. I dont know what the hold ups are in this kitchen now, it doesnt seem to be a lack of staff as only one person is needed to plate up bain marie food but the waiting times really need to improve as do the continually shrinking portion sizes and items like roast potatoes continually being forgotten. The desserts are claimed to be homemade but having worked as a kp/chef for 15 years, i know full well the desserts come from Lynas. TBH the place is reasonable for the price and the older waitresses are nice, the newer younger ones tend to look at you like poo they found on thier shoe and cant even do you the courtesy of listening when placing orders, often making folks repeat themselves several times. Wine Inns did a better job of running the place and thats saying something seeing as they are a bunch of paramilitary affiliated toerags."

Another fabulous meal at Rubys. We had the beef and it was so tasty. We had sticky toffee pudding and it was also fab. Two courses for £16 is such good value. The service was also great, the girls are so friendly and attentive. Have never had a bad meal here.

As a regular visitor with family members ,I enjoy the atmosphere and new look ,however the quality of food served has not been up to standard. And this has been the case for a few weeks. I had been reluctant to complain to waiting staff as they are all very helpful and friendly .please improve as we enjoy our meal out

This is the upstairs floor over a busy pub. Very handy for the Comber Road stop on the G1 Glider, and also good onsite parking. My friend and I had an excellent fish and chip meal here, and were surprised by the reasonable price. It would have been half as much again in the city centre or even in Ballyhackamore. The ambience was a bit lacking, but the staff were friendly and professional. I'll be back!

Horrendous. It was so cold we ate dinner with our coats on and. Could see our breath. The staff were lovely when you find them. 15 minutes after waiting over an hour for our main which we were still eating) we were asked to hurry up as another party was arriving. Now seriously the place was half empty, didn’t even get offered the dessert menu let alone the ice-cream that came with the kids meal. And no veg. And we didn’t eat it we put it in my bag for the dog. Depressing Christmas lights not turned on. Table was dirty. Not even a cracker for the kids or even a festive feel of any kind. Brooke and the Latvian girl were running the show by themselves and held the total lack of support from any...

There was 12 of us booked on Saturday 26th February for the bottomless brunch at 4pm, we were all seated at 4pm and we sat for 20 minutes before we got a staff members attention to take our drinks order, which when it came some of us didn’t get a drink or got the wrong drink. We did say to the staff about the drinks orders and it took another 15mins for the right drinks to come. The afternoon tea style food came and what can I stay, it wasn’t anything to talk about, it was very disappointing, you weren’t even given side plates or napkins, we had to ask for them, you weren’t even given a condiment to put on the scones and when we asked they said they’d only butter as they’d no jam or cream. "enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
