This is one of those hidden gems you come across when looking for a new place and fall in love with instantly. The food was fresh tasty and exciting every bite. The owner is so polite and welcoming. "POSITIVES: really tasty food all of our plates were empty and we enjoyed each dish good choices for vegetarian and pescatarian meals NEGATIVES: Pub was freezing cold, we were both in our coats and still had cold fingers and toes. It killed the atmosphere for us on a Friday evening pricey for what it is and it’s location, it was the same prices as a decent restaurant in Manchester, but without the ambiance. I imagine the rent in Holcombe is much less than manchester and they might invest in some heating tiny portions! We ordered 7 dishes between 2 and were both still hungry afterwards. Average dish was around £10 and they didn’t touch the sides. 10% service charge auto added. I hate it when any restaurant add this as this takes away the customer’s kind gesture. It becomes an expectation. Yes this is optional, but it’s to awkward to request that this is removed or reduced. I think this is assumptive when there’s only two diners and we had arrived and exited within the hour, was both still hungry and was sat in the cold for the duration."

"The second visit to Levanter. Pretty bad experience the first time a couple of years back where we found ourselves to be the only people in there one evening and had the waiters stood around impatiently wanting us to hurry and finish so they could close. Levanter seems to have a lot of hype around it, hence we gave it another chance (maybe it was just a one-off... er, no). We genuinely can't understand why the place is bigged up so much. We love Spanish tapas, which is why we tried it in the first place so we kind of knew what kind of dishes we would be getting. However, the menu was limited, the food itself, average, at best and the glasses of wine, tiny. The tables are really cramped together so it's far too crowded for a place of its size. I felt for the people who had booked the table right next to the toilet door. Furthermore, bizarrely, the food is carried from the kitchen, down the street and in through the front door. Maybe that's fine if you are sat in a tapas bar on La Rambla in July but not so much when it's a freezing January night with intermittent rain or hailstone. Price-wise, it wasn't too pricey but that would have only added insult to injury had the prices been sky-high. The young lady who serves us was pleasant but that was probably the best I can say for the place. We won't be giving Levanter a third chance."

"We have been many times to the Pack Horse and never once been disappointed, on this occasion there were 11 people and 2 dogs for Sunday lunch, it was as always amazing, the food was delicious and hot, everyone enjoyed their choice of food, the drinks aplenty and service was second to none, we were also celebrating our friends 60th birthday and nothing was too much trouble for the waiter to bring out the cake that we had turned up with, complete with lit candles and joining in the fun and birthday song. If you have never been please go and if you have, keep going, we have to support business to keep them alive and this business is certainly not complacent about what they deliver day in, day out. Already looking forward to my next visit."
