Visited on a Saturday lunch time and was surprised to find it not busy .fish and chips were excellent.staff friendly and helpful.will visit again hen back in the area.

Used to be Great will not bother again new owners need to go back to using proper chips cooked in batter and Dripping today tasted like frozen chips hardly any batter and normal oil

A lady aggressively told us to leave and that we couldn’t eat in although we where sat at a table and where only being friendly and wouldn’t give us a reason on why we had to leave. Bad costumer service

Initially I was dragged into Scoffs by my niece who loves her food , but now we make a point of visiting this fabulous fish and chip restaurant every time we visit Barnstable. Wayne and Mrs. Wayne sorry luv, don't know your name, but we'll bring you a teapot next visit!!! make us warmly welcome. And if that was not enough the food is so very nice. Please open a Scoffs fir me in Bridport. X

I haven't eaten in the shop, so cannot comment on that, however this is the best Fish and Chips i have ever tasted, and as a resident of Barnstaple is the only Fish and Chip shop i now use. In my opinion it is the creme de la creme of Chip shops. Very polite and friendly staff, lovely hot fresh food and nice and clean premises. Whenever we have anyone stay, a visit to scoffs is always on the agenda.

Looked up on trip advisor for evening meal and found Scoffs . Nice clean entrance and sanitizer in place . Ordered fish chips for two and awaited delivery to a separate table . Just 5 minutes later they were ready for us to takeaway. Friendly goodbye from the owner . Got back to our room to enjoy really fresh fish and crunchy delicious chips . Just lovely and those chips were just something else , thanks .

Never tasted anything as good as scoff fish and chips, no pretension just good food. place extremely clean, sraff nice and chatty when they have the time ,i think they need more staff, but its nice to know the food is cooked almost to order. always worth a few minutes wait. I will be going back regularly for my dose of fish and chips mushy peas. Better than some of these so called award winning places around Devon.

This restaurant is super friendly and the food delicious! I had scampi chips and salad while my husband had salt and pepper squid chips and salad..proper Yorkshire chips cooked to perfection, not greasy stick to the roof of your mouth but crispy moreish chips and I'm not usually a chip lover ! Will definitely go again when im next in the area...to the owners...Will let you know if I suss out the recipe and have success

Tuesday 8th Oct 6pm. Only customers in restaurant. Our fish 'n ' chips were cooked to order. While they were cooking the fryer alarm was being triggered constantly. I was told it was the fat level and there was nothing the operator could do about it. Nearly left as it was very annoying. We were offered ketchup and it arrived in a refillable plastic bottle. Our meal arrived and looked great. Crunchy chips and crisp fish. As we started to eat you could see the fat collecting on the plate. Finished the meal and too be honest would never go in again. Both my wife and myself felt quite unwell afterwards, the taste of fat kept regurgitating.
