"We made a reservation for the tasting menu and wine pairing at this restaurant. It was a birthday celebration and an intimate dinner for two. We started by having cocktails in the lounge, and mine was one of the best I've had in years - subtle, delicate, and lovely. The service was exceptional, with each dish being introduced and presented beautifully. We ended the meal with coffee and a nightcap in the lounge. I couldn't find any faults at all - this place deserves high praise. The restaurant is located on a peaceful woodland estate with easy access to the A1M and Scotch Corner intersection. While I highly recommend it, I worry it will become too popular to get a table! The ambiance was perfect and it's amazing to have such quality just a short drive away. MLE, please don't change a thing."

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items.The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."

"Rooms: We are currently staying in the apartment above the pub and it is beautiful. Tastefully decorated. Everything you need for a few days away. The wifi is not the greatest but that is no way any fault if the establishment, the whole area seems to struggle. This place is a little gem and we are so glad we have found it. Food drinks: We are a party of 10 and the food we ordered was great value and we would highly recommend every dish we chose. The tapas was amazing. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Quiet"

"First day out of lockdown and came across the angel pub, only wanted a quick beer so popped in, masks on and shown to a table by Amber, who looks after front of house and runs the bar, mother runs the kitchen looking after the food.. 2 real ales, Timothy Taylors was my choice, turned out to be a very wise one, superb pint, as we're walking stayed for second, log burner going and locals very friendly, all willing to chat over a pint, returned next day lunchtime fish and chips and chicken parm with fresh veg, some of the best pub food we have had on our travels, thank you the angel, took photos at opening time to avoid crods spoiling pictures,"

"This is the worst pub for customer service I have ever been into. We arrived on Sarurday afternoon with our dogs, and as we walked in the landlady appeared hostile and rude. She abruptly said ' Have you booked a table ' we replied no we havant. so as we made our way to a table we were given disgusting looks as though we were dirt of the street. She had a very poor attitude and we felt embarrassed. We decided not to stay in her pub, and on the way out, she snilled and grunted at the man behind the bar who must have been the landlord. She made some comment to him which made us feel inadequate. Although we was not necessary dressed appropriately, we are not dirt off the street. We both happen to be key workers and have both worked tirelessly through the pandemic. I specifically have a high profile job and hold high standing. We certainly do not appreciate being judged and treated like dirt. We were looked down upon and made to feel inadequate. This is certainly not acceptable in this day and age especially with no customer service skills. A very rude lady with poor attitude. I certainly will not be recommending this pub to my colleagues."
