"im really sad as this used to be a lovely place to stop on a walk and sit outside with a drink and a sandwich, i last ate here last year and had a lovely sandwich with a little salad and crisps, however this time we paid the same amount and was given a very sorry looking sandwich, no garnish or crisps and we had to send a search party out for the cheese, we spoke with the staff who stated that the owner is cutting back on the food!! but did offer to pad out the sandwich with some more cheese and some pickle, i wouldn 't mind but this sandwich cost 5.95. totally unacceptable we won 't be returning, there are nicer places to eat in the square!"

"We live just down the road from Axbridge and popped in for dinner as we had heard good things about this place.The first thing that is difficult is parking! There are restrictions everywhere for 24 hours a day as far as we could tell. Of course, that is not the fault of the restaurant but it does contribute to one 's enjoyment of an evening.Anyway, the restaurant and bar area are very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming. we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady and had a drink at the bar first. very chatty and friendly woman behind the bar too.On being seated at the restaurant, we had a tasty amuse bouche and drinks (decent wine list .The menu is good. There were at least three things on there that I could have ordered on the spot! Traditional British style choices, very nice. However, I could not justify paying £30 for an 8oz fillet of beef with some sauce!!I had the pigeon starter, which was very nicely cooked, pink all the way through and tender as well (water bath, maybe? . However, when it arrived at the table it was all quite cold as if it had been sitting for a while before being brought out. My wife had the soup, which was home made and she said it was good.We both went for the pork belly main course, and both agreed that it was rather dry. There was nice crackling and all the potatoes and veg were nicely cooked, but the actual pork meat was not unctuous with reduced fat. All in all, good service, nice place but the kitchen was not on top form that night. We would give them another chance however, this meal was 'average ', not 'poor '."

"fantastic place to visit. large beer garden for children, fantastic ale for adults and eating is for everyone. would deffo be my native if I were not living 200 miles away. it is a must if at all in somerset. (april 2015) back in the new inn 12 months after our last visit and we have made it priority to call for a few beer and a wonderful meal. it was not disappointed, absolutely fantastic eating, super friendly staff and a pub with real character. oh and the children love the playground again in the sunshine. the fucking love this place. "I often visit the Pantry for lunch with friends and have been meaning to write a review. I love this place. What makes it so special is the people who work there. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the lady who owns it is just lovely. Today I visited with a friend and I had my favourite chicken, brie and cranberry panini. It's such a great combo and comes with the tastiest coleslaw and freshest salad. You know when the salad is going to be good when the tomatoes are deep red in colour. My friend had the brie and cranberry sandwich on granary she was blown away. The bread was cut thick and was clearly fresh in today. And don't get me started on the cakes! i usually have the Victoria Sponge with apricot jam (it's insanely good but today I went for the lemon drizzle. It did not disappoint. I now can't decide which one is my favourite. The menu inside is varied and they serve breakfast all day. A great cafe, run by caring people and a wonderful ambience. Thank you :"
