"Pintxo Kalea, located very close to the Miriam Blasco roundabout, has specialized in grilled meats and is gradually gaining followers thanks to the good work of Diego with the grill and Vanessa in the dining room. Due to its ample size and its location next to the park, it is a place frequently visited by families with children, especially on weekends. The restaurant has a fairly long bar that allows you to see the work being done in the kitchen; the dining room, which is quite large, can accommodate no less than 50 people. It also has a very pleasant terrace that is very popular as it faces the park, where you can let the kids play or enjoy the city's weather.
On this occasion, the four of us had gathered for a meal to get to know each other, chat, and share two bottles of Pintía wine that they kindly allowed me to bring from home. For the meal, we always followed the recommendations of Vanesa, and we really enjoyed the food.
Starters:
- When we sat down, they brought us a plate with some prawns and langoustines as a house invitation.
- Wagyu caviar (2 x 4€. Good. It is served with wedges of aged cheese. I was expecting more flavor, as it fell a bit short compared to our cecina.
- Tomato salad with ventresca (1 x 11€. Very good. Just a few days ago, I had taken a wonderful salad of this style at La Tartana, but this one certainly did not fall behind, I even thought that the tomato had a deeper and more intense flavor, an excellent choice.
- Cabrales croquettes (2 x 3.80€. Very good. Although my companions compared them with some references from Alicante, I found the croquettes to be original and very tasty. The big difference is that they are almost liquid inside, with a very smooth cream instead of the typical solid and pasty croquette. If you like this type of dish, it is worth trying.
- Bilbao-style baby squid (1 x 7€. Very good. The preparation seemed simple to me, but the product seemed of very good quality. Excellent portion for the price.
Main dishes:
- Aged old cow t-bone steak (45.5 for a 1.3kg chop. Excellent. The meat was tasty, tender, with a beautiful color. I don't like it when they serve it on those hot plates where the sizzling ends up splashing you and leaving a smell of smoke on your clothes, but I must admit that in this case it was the only possible solution given that each of the four of us liked the meat done in different ways.
- Wagyu ribeye steak (44.8€ for 700g. Also excellent. Everything I said in the previous paragraph can be applied here; the meat has a very different flavor, with less intensity but perhaps more depth, meaning it lingers on the palate for longer. The four of us diners concluded that we preferred the classic aged old cow t-bone steak.
Desserts:
- We couldn't manage dessert, but despite that, Vanesa brought us a sort of cake with melted chocolate while we had two coffees, another nice touch.
Price:
- The bill for this meal was 31€ per person without including drinks (wine, water, coffees, beers, soft drinks, spirits...). Video on Youtube: [hidden link]"
