"This was my second visit to the Sizzling Spice in the space of a week or so. Sadly my mum is having an extended stay in the Royal Berks Hospital, and the Spice is situated close to the hotel we were staying in, whilst visiting. We live in Manchester and are spoilt for fantastic quality Indian/ Asian restaurants, so often find ourselves underwhelmed when on our travels, but not so at the Sizzling. In simple terms the food is great, and clearly cooked fresh to order. On this visit I re visited the wonderfully spiced Sheek Kebab starter, (having enjoyed it so much on my solo visit a week ago) and once again it was on top form. My wife had the firery Paneer Chilli, described as rich in spice and flavour without blowing her head off. For mains a Brinjal Bhaji, Lamb Gosht Kata Masala (first visit) and a House Special this , were all well cooked and extremely tasty. You do need to come up with a better name than House Special though. It deserves a name. Raj our waiter was friendly and attentive without being over so. On both my visits the restaurant has been rather quiet. Time of year perhaps, money tight for everyone? Whatever the reason, the food deserves a bigger audience. If you live in Reading, use it or lose it folks. If your visiting and find yourself in that part of town, give it whirl."

Recommended this excellent restaurant by the nearby Sure hotel and we weren't disappointed. Friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant has a relaxing ambience and the food and service was of a high standard.

Absolutely spot on! Speedy service, with a smile and a very tasty meal. Staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Restaurant was clean and bright, what’s not to like?

Nothing special about this restaurant. The food was ok but not exceptional. Price was on the high side especially the drinks. The ambiance of the restaurant was lacking as was the basics of a decent maintained toilet.

I visited this restaurant twice in one week. Monday Bank Holiday the King Prawn Biriyani was exceptional.. It was my Birthday on the Thursday. I recommended this place. My Biryiani did not have any real flavours in it. Chicken Korma only had 4 pieces of chicken portion sizes were small. food was cold. I was disappointed. I will stick with Garden of Gulab in future they are consistent.

The food is still amazing. The quality is high. We had ordered Chicken Dansak, the Whole Sea Bass, Rice, Naan, Dhal, Bhindi Bhaji, a couple of glasses of wine, a beer and a jug of water. The whole experience from start to finish was very welcoming, friendly. The food had the right amount of spices so was very tasty and not bland. The restaurant was very quiet, however the take away was busy. We would eat here again and are planning to take friends who are visiting from abroad.

In general good service and a decent restaurant but my veggie Vindaloo was far too hot, like a madras involving a chilli powder spill. Yes I was warned it would be hot but I like a spicy curry and the many other curry houses I go to make a well spiced version, hot with potatoes and mustard seeds with plenty of garlic and ginger but not blistering like a Phaal. I felt I was being punished for ignoring the advice. Next time I will have a Dhansak here. I think everyone else enjoyed their meal. Drinks were £5.50 for a pint of Kingfisher or £6.50 for a bottle of cobra. Worked out as £25 per head for papadam/pickles, drinks main including tip.
