"I've had takeaway from here a few times. The food has ranged from disappointing to really quite good. Most disappointing was my Jalfrezi which is a mild dish here I didn't have a menu when I ordered so wasn't to know whereas it...is medium to hot everywhere else. The best was a king prawn dish. Portions are generous and prices are ok if a little on the expensive side. I will not be ordering anything from this restaurant again as it is common knowledge in the town that they throw away the leftovers in the field where people walk their dogs. This is making the dogs sick. Mine has been sick in the middle of the night, she has suffered from diarrhea and has had a very expensive and stressful trip to the vets in the middle of the night. Perhaps this review will make them stop because nothing else has."

We were overcharged by £7. I wouldn't have minded so much but their curries were absolutely tasteless. Poppadoms burned. On the plus side, they make a nice pakora and tikka.

Had the set meal for 2 and at just over £30 it was good value. My achari lamb curry was excellent and the kingfisher beer was good and cold too. Service was very friendly. Can certainly recommend it.

the ordered chicken madras and huh chili masala saw both on taste very similar main aroma concentrated tomato not what I would expect. poppadome that we are not crunchy. I will visit this restaurant very unlikely again.

The chicken was a bit dry but otherwise good food and cooked fresh. Designed for the English palate obviously as the hot South Indian curry was quite sweet. Worth a visit though. The front of house person/owner (maybe wasn’t wearing a mask.

We asked for mango lassi which wasn't on the menu, they made it for us regardless and it was the most authentic lassi I love tasted at a restaurant. The food was delicious and full of spice, loved the poppadom dip so much we ordered...a second batch, the raita was so full of colour and spice, the whole meal was so delicious

on the evening of Friday, 17th september, five friends from medium age and I, from six separate households, had dinner in spice india. the service was efficient and friendly, but all six of us came to the conclusion that it was the worst and least authentic Indian food we had...everyone had, from stale popodums to cold uncooked. the fact that the restaurant was empty at 8 o’clock on a “peak” Friday would have had to make us aware.

we booked a table for dinner on Monday night. we were first around 7.30, but a table of 3 then another one of 8 arrived soon so that the restaurant is well filled. menus and drinks arrived quickly and the waitress was happy about our order. that was delicious. the chicken was tender and the sauces (tikka masala and jaipuri) were full of taste. reis was piping hot and garlic naan was great to share between two. they were also happy that we have shared a beer (many restaurants are not.) great worth at just about £35. would definitely visit again.

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
