"My 5 friends and I who were all Asian went to celebrate the end of our hike around 3 PMon 30.05.21. We sat down and was greeted by a male waiter who took our orders and then proceeded to say, I hope you 're not the type of group to pay separately and not all together. Just one of you pay and then divide it amongst yourselves later. This felt quite assuming and confrontational. We appreciated that he was probably very busy but it removed our ability to choose to pay seperately if we wanted to and felt like it was a difficult position that he had put us in despite us being customers at this pub. We begrudgingly accepted. He later brought out drinks and my friend noticed that one of the pint glasses were not clean and had a red stain. My friend notified the male waiter of this and he grabbed my friend 's pint glass aggressively and quickly began to empty it right next to our bench, with no concern that while he is doing this, he is getting my friend 's bag and jacket wet. He then says that it would be qui cker for someone to replace the lemonade pint and asked someone to do this. All of us were shocked at his behaviour and felt very uncomfortable at this pub where we are meant to relax and enjoy our meal that we paid for as customers. A short while later, I notice a Caucasian young couple in their 30s with the mum dressed in a blue beautiful dress holding her baby on her lap. They asked the same male waiter for drinks. The male waiter brought their drinks and accidentally poured a whole pint of beer on the lady with the baby on her lap. He immediately expressed his apologies and goes back into the pub to replace the pint of beer. The lady said that it was okay and that her baby was not wet. She grabs some wipes from her bag and tried to clean herself. The waiter comes back with replacement pint of beer and a complementary drink. From this sight, we were all shocked at what happened and visibly realise how stressed and agitated this male waiter must be. Our food arrived and we noticed that on 3 of our plates there were hair. My friends, as a result of the aggressive behaviour shown from the male waiter to us, felt fearful of what would happen if we were to bring to his attention the hair on our plate, especially with his behaviour to the Caucasian couple, we anticipated that his reaction to us might be a lot worse considering we 're Asian and we also didn 't want to bring any more attention to us. This upset me that we were in this position considering that the hair on our plates were a massive red flag for adherence to food and hygiene regulations. Including that we felt too uncomfortable to speak up despite us being customers and us just trying to enjoy just finishing of our hike. It is to add that our experience here wasn 't completely negative as a lady at the pub was quite cheerful and welcoming and helped us in the right direction for our hike and opened the toilet for us to use. As a future recommendation to improve service, if a member of staff is stressed/overworked or agitated, for them to either take a break, refuse more customers from booking or close the pub earlier so that the stress that an invidual might feel is not extended to customers that would like to be in a calming enjoyable environment. In this situation, I rather they had said that there was no other bookings available and my friends and I would have found somewhere else to enjoy our food that go through the stress and feelings of uncomfort that we experienced."
