"I ordered a BLT and a pot of tea. The sandwich took a while and I had nearly finished my tea by the time it arrived. I took a bite and realised immediately the bacon rind was not cooked enough, it was far too chewy to eat. I opened the sandwich to peel it off. Looking at the bacon it looked barely cooked and almost raw. I decided to finish my tea and leave the sandwich. I went to pay. I was asked if everything was ok I replied that the sandwich was unfortunately not ok and I’d had to leave it. The cashier went in to the kitchen for a minute, before returning and saying “why didn’t you think to tell us earlier”. I really don’t like confrontation so I just paid and left. I am at a loss as to why staff need to argue. I clearly hadn’t eaten the sandwich. Good customer service would have saved this experience, but I won’t go back now."

Mega cheese scones. The best! Hand made, spot on with a coffee. Highly recommended…I’ve eaten far too many!

Visited stamps during our stay at great Ayton, lovely dog friendly coffee shop, friendly staff and good selection of cakes.

A lovely range of food and more importantly, quality food! A really nice choice of fancy hot chocolates which, the coconut one I had, tasted amazing!

We use all the cafe houses in Gt Ayton but our go to place is definitely stamps. Simone (owner) and her staff always give you a warm welcome. Food is freshly prepared and the rooms are light and airy. Very happy to recommend Ver carta

Popped in here after finishing a walk to the monument and Roseberry Topping so we were hungry! Fab food and service. Very friendly and still serving hot food with an hour left to closing. We hope to return to try the cakes too

Visited Saturday lunchtime, greeted by friendly staff. Found table quickly, fast service, we were in and out in half an hour. Ordered piece of cake, fruit scone and apple crumble. Crumble was amazing!!! Piping hot and delicious. Scone and cake were good too. Didn't leave a crumb!! Just under £18 for 3 desserts and 3 drinks, worth every penny. Would definitely visit again!!

The taste of the coffee is always a matter of personal opinion, so move on. Not covering the toast to the edge with avocado just smacks of penny pinching. But not getting the poached eggs to table whilst still hot is simply second-rate. The final insult is after paying by card, asking for the printout to be told “we don’t give them out” means this place will not see us again. Perhaps more concentration on the customer would be good? We called in for a cup of tea (ordinary for me and decaf for my friend) which was fine. The cakes and pastries didn’t look to be anything special and certainly didn’t tempt me. However, my friend was feeling peckish so she also had a cookie, which she described as being “okay”, before she succumbed to a blueberry scone with butter and jam which, again, she said was “okay”. This is just a very average cafe and there’s nothing that makes it stand out. I suspect that there’s better to be had locally.

We called here today after walking to Roseberry Topping and discovered this lovely cafe. We had a couple of cappuccinos which were strong and incredibly hot and a couple of carrot cakes which were delicious and probably the best we’ve tasted. Cost was £11.70. The cafe was light and airy with plenty of comfortable seating. The toilet was clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient. What a lovely find which we would absolutely recommend and we would definitely visit again when we are in the area

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
