"We have just enjoyed an amazing family birthday lunch. Our family of 12 ranging in age from 9 to 85 each confirmed that it was incredible on several counts : the menu covered all tastes and requests coeliac and vegan included : the welcome and service were cheerful, friendly and as quick as could be expected, covering 11 different orders one was for an impressive sharing platter .There were no complaints from anyone, which I consider to be excellent. No pretentions, just a comfortable, warm atmosphere which serves beautiful meals and at fare prices. The drinks order should be praised too, very varied items , but served efficiently and correctly. Well done Brew Shed."

"No.5 appears to be in a state of transition of owners and it shows. We have never had a disappointing meal here until this last one. I have always had a little whinge that the menu hardly ever changes so despite previously loving the food when you have been a few times it becomes a bit samey . Recently went to the under new management White Houses and they have a fixed menu but lots of specials to add variety. Definitely top notch competition locally to No. 5 Service was initially very attentive but ended up as none existent. If I had been on my own, and not with a party, I would have abandoned the sweets the time we had to wait. Our server was young and clearly new and didn 't seem to have a clue when asked questions. Starters were generally very good apart from being a bit surprised when most of the party got a slice of brown bread that appeared to come straight out of a standard sliced loaf. What happened to the tub of warm rustic quality bread? Definitely lacked class. Mains were generally well presented and OK. I chose Beef Stroganoff again due to the limited menu, on a previous visit I had this and frankly it was the best I have ever tasted. Not so this time. Difficult to spot my strips of fillet steak , It seemed to be all mushroom with what steak I tasted being grisly and the sauce was just not right. The sweet menu selection was very limited and again unchanged. The jewel previously was the assiette of sweets which has now gone. Time has come to move on unless they re-vamp the menu and bring things back up to the standard of the old No. 5."

"We visited as a party of 3. As we arrived, staff were outside trying to hang bunting from the entrance. We all had a good laugh about the difficulty of it and straight away it was a very friendly atmosphere. We ordered drinks and a meal each (steak, lamb pie and lasagne). Food was served promptly and nicely presented, all beautifully cooked. We actually really liked the fact that we were left alone once the meal was served too. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and agreed it was great value for money. We've recommended to others who were in the area for an event too, and if we are in the area again, we will be back!"

"We have been a few times before and always enjoyed it. Visited today for lunch with my family and I have to say, I left feeling a little disappointed. Firstly we couldn’t have a mixed grill because you had to pre-order! I understand pre ordering...maybe lobster etc but not a mixed grill, it’s pretty standard food choice. We ordered fillet steaks and whilst the meat was tasty the portion was small and the mushrooms were very oily. My husband ordered beef sandwich and chips , the beef was lovely, and we expected it served on ciabatta or hand cut thick bread, but disappointing came on a seeded burger bun that was dry. The decoration is fun, and the staff very attentive. But the for the cost I expected better."

"Not a disability friendly cafe ! If your disabled, I 'd advise not going ! My 2 daughters went for a day out to watch the plains and get some lunch ! They didn 't know they at to book, which is fine and we 're told they could sit outside and order drinks and cake, absolutely fine ! So.....my youngest daughter has high functioning autism, looks just like Mr and you but has autism and high anxiety, so getting her to agree to go out takes alot of planning and talking. Get her to go BUT has to take her own packed lunch, now many will say 'you can 't take your own food to a cafe '....fully understand BUT when a staff member approaches them and infront of other customers and embarrassed them telling them she can 't eat her packed lunch (child with packed lunch), I find absolutely disgusting! 1...don 't embarrass them infront of people 2...maybe find out if there 's a reason why a child has taken her own packed lunch ! 3...not every disability is visual ! MAYBE STAFF TRAINING TO BE MORE POLITE MAYBE STAFF TRAINING TO THINK THERE MIGHT BE A REASON WHY THAT CHILD IS EATING HER OWN PACKED LUNCH ! absolutely disgusted in this place for now making my autistic daughter feel beyond anxious and now as her parent, who has spend days talking to her about going here (to watch the planes) now has to spend the next how ever long reassuring her it 's fine to leave the house again and try something different. So Thank-you APRON cafe for being so kind and understanding and for embarrassing 2 young girls who had innocently gone for a little day out !"
