"Stepping inside, there was a slightly suspicious smell. Not detectable unless paying very close attention. But not right. We had Menu palet de poulet frit (11,50 €) and Menu sashimi (19 €).First, some rice chips were served. Extremely boring and didn't serve any purpose. Then we had the simple cabbage salad. The seasoning was good and the vegetables were fresh. But the cabbage and the seasoning were way too warm so that almost ruined that dish. Then miso soups. They were very normal and good, no faults there. The chicken (minced meat) was normal home cooking quality, ok by itself. But the lettuce under the chicken was too old to be plated. The sashimi was almost a joke as previously commented. Stamp sized pieces and half of them were not fresh. Not terrible, but no way could some of the fish be called fresh. The variety was not sufficient for 19 euros (though that price is including the mentioned other dishes on lunch). The background music. Absolutely unimaginable. Playing one song in repeat, and what a song. The worst possible kind of 80s electronic music, basically muzak with a club beat. Absolutely nothing to do with Japan and the repetition made it feel like some kind of bad computer game where the music just doesn't change. The nail in the coffin was the oshibori (hot towel). It was served after the meal. Why after? The worst possible thing to do with oshibori is to have them smell so much that they smell even before opening them and what's worse, they leave your hands terribly smelly after using. Needless to say, a catastrophe."

We visited this restaurant late saturday afternoon. Athmosphere was relaxed. Food was tasty and fish really fresh. Food was made after order, which takes a little bit time but ensures quality. We would definitely visit this place again.

Food is fresh, tastes fresh. Delicious ! You can chose between excellent California rolls, sushis, sashimis and teriyaki beef, duck...Best miso soup I know.My favorites: midi soup + ebi-ten spicy + sea eel sushis! Just perfect.Bonus point: Price is in the average of the other Japanese in Nice!

Had dinner here on Saturday night. Good location. Small place with a really nice relaxed feel to it. Staff (I think a couple) running the restaurant were perfect with service, food etc. Tuna melted in mouth, miso soup was delicious. Really happy with our whole experience and will return when next in nice

I enjoy all the dishes here. Everything is made of fine materials. And the service is excellent and considerate. The taste of sushi is just like what I had in Japan before. Not expensive at all. I will definitely come to here again. I spend 2 hours there with my husband. Very good experience in NICE! And the boss offer me free wine to celebrate my newly marriage. Good people!

This place makes amazing sushi, the fish is fresh and the rice is cooked perfectly. Family owned, clean and tastefully decorated.. They open just before seven, it wasnt busy at all, so no problem getting a table.I'm from Vancouver so the price was the only catch for not getting perfect 5.. Our sushi back home is like fast food prices. The quality of sushi they make is worth it for sure.. But I'm just use to paying way less..

This family own place opened in 2003, and the freshness and quality is still there. The place is a hidden gem in Nice, they were amongst the first to prepare high quality Sushis, and they still are. They offer a limited variety of fish, to ensure it is the freshest quality. The menu is composed with Sushis, makis and very original rolls as well as cooked items like skewers, etc. The soups are delicious too, and a significant notch above what you can find elsewhere.

For some reason Nice does not have too many genuine sushi places. You will mostly see chains and what I call "Salmon/Tuna" sushi stores where the only assortment of fish will be just that. Sushiya is a refreshing contrast. It is a small family business and the sushi master is right there next to you creating his art. The sushis : very fresh and tasty, generous fish cuts, decent assortment of fish and roes, creative. Soups are home made. None of that pre-made Miso soup that tastes the same in most chains. In addition, they are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is small but clean and pleasantly decorated. Very "Wabi-Sabi" ;-)

Went here with my fiancee just now. While at the time of writing this restaurant only had a few reviews, the things i did read sounded right to me. It is a nice little place in a quiet area.We eat sushi quite often and have had it in many different countries and cities. I can say that the sushi here ranks on my personal upper range and is certainly worth the mid- tier pricing. The atmosphere is personal and there are not many tables, it makes me a bit sad that this place does not seem to enjoy more popularity, possibly due to the somewhat off- tourist- track location. The Waitress was very patient and welcoming, this little gem seems to be run by an asian couple, very sweet :)The only downside...
