"Very friendly old pub with dining, owned by the community and serving great real ales and home made food including excellent pies! Three dining areas, including bar area and two dining rooms plus a large outdoor space for warmer months. We had delicious garlic prawns for starters, steak and ale pies, one of our party also had fish and chips which was equally really good. The desert menu is very impressive! 14 different home made puds, big selection of sorbets and ice creams and a cheese board. Treacle Tart and Lemon Drizzle Tart were both super. Log fires and friendly vibe, great value for money too."

"Me and my partner have just spent a evening here in room 312 The staff as soon as we got there where extremely helpful and nothing was to much hassle, The room was amazing and the bed was so comfy the shower was extremely powerful. Walls where a little thin but as soon as we pt Tv on it was fine. When we went for an evening meal well we didn’t go away hungry I can tell you that the potions were amazing and the pork well one of the best I have ever tasted. After dinner we went upstairs which no one was there it was a great room with a pool table and lots of sofas to relax in would recommend getting some cards or board games to keep up there. Highly recommend staying for breakfast as above again the food was quickly derlivered to our table and again didn’t go away hungry. We had to be checked out by 10 which was a shame because I would have happily stayed for Sunday lunch. I will recommended this place highly Thank you to all the staff we definitely be returning Bradley and Zoe miles"

"We met another guest who mentioned the same issues and noted that the only breakfast options available were cereals in the dining area. There was no restaurant open and no sign of staff until the following morning. My booking had stated there would be a continental breakfast, but it turned out to be nothing more than cereal! When a man appeared during breakfast to address our complaints, he was rude and blamed my booking agent. He refused to give us any partial refund. It's clear that this place is declining, and it seems like no one cares about maintaining it. I strongly advise against staying here; it really should be shut down. The photos used to advertise this place do not reflect its current state at all."

"My wife and I stopped here the night of a friend's wedding reception at the pub across the road. As soon as we walked up to the building (an amazing exterior in itself we were greeted by the owners and some locals doing a bit...of DIY outside. Everyone was so friendly and happy to chat to us! The interior of the building is unexplainable, you have to see it to believe it! Quirky and eclectic just doesn't do it justice, wow! We were shown to our room which was again amazing and just what we needed for a quick afternoon nap to sleep off the hangover! The owners were so helpful and helped us out with anything and everything! To top it off we awoke from our nap to find one of the dogs sleeping outside our room which just made everything even more homely (we have 2 dogs ourselves). The dogs are really friendly and love a good scratch! Off we went to the reception across the green, returning early the next morning it was a treat to return to such a lovely room with a gorgeous bed!! The next morning obviously feeling a bit fragile we ventured downstairs for some breakfast. There wasn't really a menu, the chef/owner basically just said he could Cook whatever we wanted! This was the perfect way to start the recovery from the night before and the breakfast was gorgeous! After getting our bags together we had a wander around the antiques shop next door which was an absolute treasure trove in itself! An incredible place with friendly and welcoming staff. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely return!"
