"We regularly come to dinner and have never been disappointed. The food is extremely tasty, and with the menus you have an excellent price-performance ratio. Especially the vegetarian dishes are captivated by creativity. The usual vegetable dish is here in vain on the map. On the terrace of the restaurant you have a beautiful view. In summer it is worth drinking a glass of the in-house wine on the terrace. We can only recommend!"

"We booked this as it was adjoining the hotel we where staying in and we had read good reviews. We had booked in advance, which was fine but it was a lovely warm night and they put us inside. They have a large terrace by...the pool. We asked if it was possible to go outside but were informed it was not possible as they were all booked. There were several empty tables available which stayed empty all night. We had the impression the waitress could not be bothered to check. We were on the second serving so there are no later servings. Anyway to the food. I had a Caesar salad that was swimming in sauce making it uneatable. We then waited over a hour for our main course. The food, when it finally arrived was okay but by then we wished we had gone somewhere else to eat. The prices are quite expensive but the service and food did not match them. For the same prices I can eat in a gourmet restaurant here in Bern, Switzerland and this was not the same standard. We had a great time in Europa Park and will come again, but not to this restaurant"

"So we wanted to try out some authentic german food and our pension hostess recommended this restaurant. She made a reservation for us and we were on our way!!!The place is nice and big, with an outdoor section as well as large inside area. We as a party of 9 were seated inside after a bit of a wait trying to find a waiter or staff...there did not seem to be any greeters/hostesses around. The menu was quite comprehensive and laid out well, with an explanation of each item in english for those who did not speak german. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpfully, patiently explained the nuances of each item, despite the place being quite busy. We also informed them that we would not be eating pork and our waiter was very vigilant in pointing out when it was present. I had the turkey schnitzel which was like a breaded fried cutlet. My daughter had the steak, and my wife the creamy turkey. Some of the kids had the spaghetti and my brother had the salad with steak. In each case the portions were huge and the food of good solid quality. All the sauces, with steak, schnitzel, pasta were all very tasty and not spicy. Sadly we were too boring and no one ordered the spätzle, which is a german pasta that this restaurant is famous for, making it homemade. We later asked for a bit to try and it was delicious, so make sure at least one dish has this side!!! So a great introduction to german food. They do specialize in meats, so one should try those menu items and not be too conservative. Recommended!!!"

"Insgesamt kann man das "Au vieux Couvent" als sehr gute Adresse im Elsaß bewerten. Das Menü ist ebenso kreativ wie schmackhaft. Besonders erwähnenswert ist die Tatsache, dass im Au vieux Couvent Lebensmittel wieder in ihrer eigentlichen Form verarbeitet und serviert werden. Nach all den überkreativen Sterne-Küchen-Spielereien der letzen Jahre, ist es erfreulich, mal wieder eine Bohne in ihrer natürlichen Form auf dem Teller zu finden. Geschmacklich ist hier alles Top.Allerdings haben wir den Hauptgang vermisst - der gefühlte Höhepunkt in dem Menü fehlte. Es ging scheinbar von den Vorspeisen direkt zum Dessert. Serviert wurden dann nicht weniger als 7 aufeinanderfolgende Dessert-Gänge. Für mich eine gelungene Überraschung zum Schluss. Einzig zu bemängeln hatte ich, dass man den teuren 19 Jahre alten Grand-Cru Bordeaux nicht dekantiert sondern ohne Rücksicht auf Schwebeteilchen munter aus der Flasche eingeschenkt hat. Dazwischen wurde die Flasche dann immer wieder stehend abgestellt. Entsprechend landeten die meisten Schwebeteilchen im Glas. Das sollte in der Sterne-Gastronomie und speziell bei einem teuren Wein natürlich nicht passieren.Insgesamt ist das Au vieux Couvent aber absolut empfehlenswert und auch die Preise erschienen uns angemessen."

"Peter Hagen-Wiest and his team bring a menu to very good two-star level. The fish and seafood courses are more individual and independent than the two main courses we get served from the omnivore and vegetarian menu. But overall it can be said for the entire menu: the classical-French foundation is not to deny, but the dishes also show creative, modern and independent approaches, all of which are mature, harmonious and effortless. This gives me the pleasantly luxurious feeling of leaning back and enjoying me."
