"I love this pub and have been going since a child. It’s really old and has the most lovely al fresco eating area overlooking meadows that look on to Ottmoor. The staff are lovely and the beer is great. Sunday lunch is excellent, rare beef and great, good quality trimmings BUT and it’s a big but £17 for pizza is too much. We went as a family for lunch and a pretty good but not huge pizza was this price which just seems crazy. Four Hundred Rabbits, a small utterly brilliant London pizza chain with about 4 branches offers their most expensive pizza at £12.50 and starts as £8. I use this as an example as they are paying London rents. At lunchtime this once busy pub was pretty much empty and I think it’s a real shame as this is all down to over inflated prices as everything else is perfect and really excellent."

Lovely pub, good beer, great service but have to say that the food on their German night was pretty average and overpriced. Chips were poor Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We enjoyed a delicious lunch here, very good service. We shared a mixed seed hummus starter, then my wife had a tasty and generous nut curry, while I had halibut with new potatoes and crisp vegetables, both were very good. Service was personable and cheerful. Ver carta

Waited 1.5 hours to be served food and when it turned up the meat was very poor, chewy and undercooked and very small portion. They did apologise and gave food for free. After the long wait we just could not be bothered to menton to poor food as well Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The last time I was there it wasn't brilliant but I believe in second chances. This time the service had improved, switching tables so my elderly mother did not have to manage steps. Most importantly the Sunday roast was fantastic. I had rare but tender roast beef. The roast potatoes were notable. The Yorkshire pudding perfect in size. The range of vegetables brilliant. And a real depth of flavour gravy which is rare. The pub is lovely the village beautiful and being so close to Oxford, a great escape. Only downside can be parking as this is limited on popular occasions. I look forward to returning and trying out their outside terrace.

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
