"Glad we ignored the negative reviews while admittedly the service and atmosphere can be a little rough around the edges, it isn't reason enough to skip this gem of a bistro that serves venison from Jura along with fresh seafood. (Venison Burger with black pudding and blue cheese how can you not!? No liquor license at the moment but no problem, save the calories for some ice cream after dinner. Given the issues with kitchen staffing at the Jura Hotel this is a great alternative for lunch or dinner."

The service was excellent—such friendly staff! The food was good overall, but I found the mussels lacking. The standout was definitely the Quart Lobster, which was delicious. For lunchtime dining, it was a solid experience. Price range: £20–30 per person. Ratings: Food: 4, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 4.

A lovely warm Jura welcome at The Antlers Bistro. We called in for coffee and cake. We were greeted with a warm welcome. The Antlers Bistro was clean, tidy and cosy. It at a homely feel to it, like I had been there before. It's great as it opens at 8am so it a great first stop to explorer the lovely Jura. Enjoy! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Dropped in on a Saturday evening, found out we should have booked, but they were happy to let us stay and eat anyway. Both had venison burgers, really decent sized portions, nice food. Came back the following morning for scrambled eggs which were eggcellent. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Ver carta

Upon arrival, the owner informed us that he would be closing at 2 PM to go on vacation for a few weeks. The menu was limited, and we ordered mussels that he was offering at half price to clear them out. They were decent but tasted as if they could have come from a package. The restaurant was busy, so I can’t quite understand why he would choose to close during the peak tourist season. It's a shame because we would have loved to return for a full breakfast while we're here. Service: Dine-in.

Had a great brunch before our tour at Jura Distillery. One of the best veggie breakfasts I've had in a long time, possibly ever. Lassie serving was lovely, good communication and service was quick. Would definitely be making a point of going again next time we're on the island. Vegetarian options: Looked like Howie veggie square sausage, good link sausages, hash browns, beans and veggie haggis. Very tasty, and substituted mushrooms and tomatoes with other stuff as plate was rammed. Well done guys

"In would say the four star rating at the time of this review is about right, perhaps a 3.7 or so to be more precise... I've had a bit better, but I've certainly had far worse. I went for the Filet with Haggis and a Whiskey Cream Sauce... I don't know what it is about me, but anything paired with haggis is a must try! I must admit it actually worked well. The steak was probably cooked a bit more than I expected for medium rare, but it was quite nice in the middle and to be honest is closer to how I tend to like it... it just seems in the UK medium rare usually equates to what I would consider medium... I'm not sure if this is a US thing or a southern thing, but over the years it seems a pretty consistent observation. (Side note, two of my coworkers said the steaks were cooked a bit better on their last visit, attributing it to being slower that particular evening versus quite busy this visit. The roast potatoes were also good, nice and crisp, with the vegetables being a bit of a let down... not terrible, just your standard sprinkle of mixed vedge. (Having a decent flavour in their defence, if vegetables could actually have a defence. As a starter the group had garlic bread (one with cheese and one without ... they were the flat almost pizza type, but again... pretty good. Having willpower for once I only sampled a dessert, vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso, but I was impressed with the sample and the number of offerings. The same can be said for the main menu, there was a lot on offer which can sometimes be a warning sign and luckily didn't seem to be this time... everyone was happy enough with what they ordered. The service was perfectly adequate and just friendly enough, and the place itself is also fine. I think the big thing with this place was that perhaps my expectations were raised a bit high based on some of the reviews, so tread carefully if you're expecting fireworks... that said, if you're looking for a decent Italian meal and are in the area it's certainly worth a try... I wouldn't say no if invited back."
