"Airy and arty interior which combines shop/deli and busy cafe, plus popular pavement tables, made for a positive start as we sat down for a bit of brunch-style refreshment. Coffee was of a good standard and mushrooms on sourdough earned a big thumbs up, but for a simple dish with no garnish was a bit pricey. The same could have been said for the corresponding egg on toast offer but a miscommunication meant that what turned up was a toasted egg sandwich which needed to be disassembled. It was admittedly a busy morning but simple food orders shouldn't turn up long after the coffee has been finished, and there was lots of chat and recalibration going on in the kitchen which didn't indicate the most well-oiled of machines. We'll be generous and put it down to new staff bedding in and the bill was smoothly adjusted to reflect the egg error."

Stayed in Mersea for a few days ..had a lovely breakfast here twice ..a good choice pipping hot friendly staff ..what more could you ask for
