"My partner dog and myself went for a walk along the canal on our way back my partner said let's go for dinner. I said remember the last time we went for dinner here it was a nightmare a year ago problem with a very rude man. Well we sat outside and a young lady made us very welcome. We had beefburger and chips each plus's Guinness and lemonade and lime. The food was beautiful home made burgers. The chef came out and asked if we enjoyed our meal which we said was very nice. We also found out that the boat and anchor has new people running in. The new management are very nice and we wish them all the best in running the pub. A lot better than a year ago. It's a pity dogs are not allowed in bar they would make a lot of money if they were dog friendly."

Right on a canal over a rickety bridge and a huge car park with a large open bar staffed by friendly folk. Food was tasty and the bees were cold Can’t ask for more on a warm early summers day.

I only had a drink here, but I've heard that the food used to be good. The location, right next to the canal, creates a pleasant environment to sit outside and enjoy the area. This place has the potential to be much better. Ver carta

Called in with a group of 30 people. There was excellent service at the bar. The food was delicious. Most had a roast. I had a ploughman's lunch. It was a huge ploughman's. I will definitely stop there again. Highly recommended.

We had been wanting to try The Boat Anchor for a while and we were not let down. The food was incredible, all homemade including the chips. The steak was cooked perfectly. They offered a nice selection of desserts, including homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding. The restaurant is situated by the canal, which will be even more enjoyable in the summer. The owners were fantastic, incredibly friendly and hospitable. We are looking forward to going back. Ver carta

This is our 3 visit absolutely fantastic food the new staff are really accommodating nothing is to much trouble. They allow us to sit outside with our 3 springer 's we intend to go out there every Saturday as a treat in the summer they reserve us a table every week. They have a new chef starting Tuesday it is a lovely walk along the canal very cheap. The meals are limited at the moment as new chef has not started yet so I think meals will be fantastic

Just had a lovely meal here, to say it's January the weather isn't so bad and the view of the canal is gorgeous. So the food was lovely and the beers were nice too. All the staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough, very nice indeed. Would I come back, oh yes, I was passing by from Yorkshire, so it would have been rood not to stop, next time I'm down this way I will be calling in. We have a dog and there is a beautiful canal walk and this pub is super dog friendly. Support this cracking pub, it's got a lot going for it, its residential too.

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."
