"It's a shame because have been visiting the cafe for some time. They seem to have lost their way a little with the pricing and consistency of food. You can order something one time and it will be fine and the next time you order the same thing it comes up different i.e. banana and cinnamon on toast one slice of toast instead of two. Coffee doesn't seem to be hot any more and if you order a flat white the cup size has shrunk (I order flat whites all the time and know the correct cup size). Visiting this morning after being unwell for some time, I asked for 2 slices of toast and no jam. This is served on an oval plate making it very difficult to spread the butter and I was charged £4! I did comment on the price to the waitress and was told that it has been complained about several times before and that it had been relayed back to the owner. Shame because the setting is lovely and when they get it right its good quality local food."

Coffee was far too sweet, obviously with added sugar so unsuitable if you prefer a bitter taste. Food was underwhelming and bland.

Very mediocre poor tasting coffee. Boring pricey menu, specials were nothing special. Noisy inside Poor value for money. Felt rushed.

I’ve eaten here many times and enjoyed the experience. However of late I have notice the potion sizes reducing. We all know that businesses are under pressure with overheads and margins are being squeezed. But when you go for lunch and end up leaving hungry , the potions have just become too small. They have become like children’s portions. I spent £18 on a main, cake and coffee, which didn’t fill me up. Sorry guys, I won’t be back!

The breakfast burrito was delicious, but our coffee was cold and the first table we were given was dirty. It was unclear why we were seated at the only dirty table, but a different waitress relocated us to a cleaner table. Shortly after, a man was seated at our previous table that had still not been cleaned (even though the cafe was not busy at the time). Fortunately, the breakfast burrito was so tasty that it made up for the other disappointments.

I arrived at 2:30pm and had to wait for someone in charge to agree to serve us since the restaurant closes at 3pm, so we didn't feel very welcome. The food was overpriced and not particularly impressive. At 2:59pm, customers who were still inside the café were asked to leave, but they were allowed to finish their drinks outside, which was a kind gesture. I don't plan on visiting this restaurant again, which is a shame because it has the potential to be great. Ver carta

My wife and I discovered this place earlier in the year, and what a little treasure it truly is! Next door to Calcott Hall Farm Shop, it's a typical small countryside cafe. The food is excellent and in my opinion reasonably priced considering the outstanding quality of the food that they produce. The food varies from Jacket Potatoes to Sandwiches, various teas coffees gorgeous hot chocolate! Add to that, excellent very friendly staff. This has now become our fave place to go to for lunch.

We visited the restaurant for the first time this afternoon in hopes of getting a sandwich and coffee. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were disappointed to learn that they had run out of bacon, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls, and granary bread. We ended up ordering two white sandwiches and two coffees instead. However, after a short wait, we were informed that they had run out of all types of bread as well. Despite enjoying our coffees, we decided to leave. Later, we visited a farm shop that had a sign explaining the bread shortage and the reason behind it, something the restaurant failed to do. The farm shop also had plenty of sausage rolls, bacon, and potatoes in stock. Due to our experien...

"We used to go to Whittaker's every weekend when visiting Brentwood, and used to recommend it ,it was always expensive, but it was good food and good service, but for the last few months it is going down hill fast! As soon as you go in now ,and...eventually noticed,we are told it will be ,or minutes wait for food,at this point many customers leave. This has happened every time we visit,so we ordered coffee, when we would have ordered food for four people, well we waited, and waited, for a coffee ,after twenty minutes I went up to the kitchen, and was told it's coming, where from Brazil!!!!!! And then nothing! Caught a waitresses eye and asked again, then we got it,and then told if we were not eating could we be quicker as there were people waiting!!!!! Anyone sitting down was told it was a long wait,so most left! That's money walking out the door! And they didn't seem to care! We discovered the reason for this terrible service,a buy came in with a massive deliveroo bag and left after ten minutes with a massive bag of food, they are now doing delivery and making the deliveroo a priority !!!!! They might think they are making a good living out of this, but the people actually there are money too! And paying extra for the privelidge of eating in. It cost more to eat i than take out! And the last time we were there, they lost our custom,so that was four,we saw another three leave,a other group of four,a couple, and that's customers ,and the as thing was no one from Whittaker's asked the people why they were going,or attempt to sort the problem out. We were sitting by the door and as it opened other customers were calling out don't bother again no staff were Interested. This cafe is packed in , more and more tables, with no room to get up or down from your table without backing Into other people, and nearly sitting on their laps. Not going back ,now they are doing deliveroo, actual customers who want to eat,are getting a very poor service. They have lost our custom for good,"
