"EDITED: 17th Jan :Since I wrote this review I have received a message via messenger to say “in light of recent circumstances we feel it best to cancel your booking later this month” I’m not quite sure what to make of this apart from i guess it confirmed my thoughts that they don’t really care about my custom or customer service. On that basis I’m more than happy to give my good hard earned money to an establishment who does care. We are fortunate in the sense that we have a number of good choices fairly local to us. Shame you can’t put an honest review online without being “cancelled” and it doesn’t need to be like this, an alternative response could have been we’re sorry you feel like this and we value your feedback. Next time you’re in let’s have a chat. BINGO …. I feel like I’m valued, they get a chance to hear how they can improve. Original post: We love the food but the attitude of some of the staff just isn’t right. We have been in several times as we live fairly local but The gentlemen behind the bar has always been rude, noisy and unwelcoming. This really puts me off and makes me feel very uncomfortable with the guests we take with us. I like the food but it’s becoming a challenge to go. All we have done is visit on a regular basis, take lots of guests with us, paid good money for good food so I don’t know why we are made to feel so unwelcome. We are going again with friends later this month and I’m dreading the welcome coz it’s so embarrassing for us. I doubt if it will ever change so I guess we have to decide to vote with our feet, or not"

This restaurant is a fantastic choice for a meal with loved ones. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful dining experience. The service was top-notch and the food was exceptional. I would highly recommend this place.

My wife and I had a table for two on December 21, 2023, at 7pm for her birthday. We arrived early and had a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The service and food were excellent, and we were very impressed. Great job, guys! We will definitely be returning.

ate here tonight for the first time , terrible miserable older management , table near the door in a draft , asked to move , could not have been more unacomandating . Was told too busy , even if requested could not ganuatee a table of choice . Younger staff lovly and polite, same for the job worth lot . Food good , but hudge portions . Ver carta

After hearing good things about this place, my partner and I decided to drive the 60 miles to see what it was about. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent as was the service. We ate from the lunch menu as we had dinner plans later, which we wish we hadn't. There were so many dishes on the specials that we could have tried but chose from the lunches. It was an immensely enjoyable experience and we will be revisiting in the near future to sample the specials.

Absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch, best roast beef I've had in a long, long time. Seafood platter started it off to perfection. The place is so popular that the car park gets packed, much easier to park out on the road where no restrictions exist, just be sensible. Lots of staff on duty ,all friendly and helpful. Just like how it was when the business was based at the Whitehouses in Retford. Worth going out of your way for, booking absolutely necessary to avoid disappointment
