"Took my wife and a friend for lunch and drink at The Blue Boar. Great choice of beers and ciders . I had the Wadworth IPA which was good, my wife had a Raspberry/ peach cider which was delicious and dangerous , her words. We ordered lunch , I had the steak and kidney pie , which was definitely freshly home made , plenty of tasty beef and kidney , plenty of fresh veg in a side dish. My wife had Ham, Egg and chips and she said it was very good , our friend had the burger which was also very good apparently .We sat outside initially as it was a lovely day , but wasps had other ideas and the chef helped us move back into the pub. The staff were very attentive and very friendly . Definitely recommend ."

Food was good but on a table of 4 there was a delay with two starters and veg coming out. Owners were friendly and trying their best. Looking forward to a revisit.

Didn’t seem to be the happiest place, food took a long time to get and wasn’t anything special, decor dated and could do with an update but a pretty little spot next to village green.

First meal at The Boar in about three years. We weren’t disappointed with our Sunday lunch. Service was great, good portion sizes, and good value. Beef had a lovely flavour, and roasties done to perfection. We’ll be back soon. Ver carta

Me, 8:45pm “Evening, are you still doing food?” Landlord, grudgingly: “How many of you are there? Me: “Not sure, but I think most of our party have pre-ordered” Landlord: “Only one has. (To barmaid): “Give him a menu”. Yeah, you know what, I didn’t order.

Excellent food, excellent service. We shared a few light bites; the fish Goujons are incredible. Great selection of ales and wines. Would love to come back in the summer. Such a perfect setting and location and friendly locals. Thanks for such great hospitality.

Well, we hadn 't booked for lunch on a Saturday, and the rude response was ' have you booked ' 'we can 't fit you in ' until over an hour later. Of course the restaurant was empty at the time. Now, done politely we would have accepted this as bad luck. Done rudely and grumpily we will not go back and we live locally. Down to the Crown for an excellent lunch. So much for a cheerful host. The pub is located right on the green which is a beautiful setting. As it was a lovely day found a table outside which was great. Biggest disappointment was their Ploughmans Lunch which I had been looking forward to as remember from old. But didnt have it in the end as it was quite boring even compared to others that I had recently one choice of cheese and no pork pie. I had a sandwich with salmon which was OK and hubby had the Ploughmans. Friendly staff.

History has disappeared! Visited a few years ago as we loved Band of Brothers, and there was a wealth of history on Easy Company, letters, photographs etc, but this has now been reduced to one small wall. We ordered drinks (man behind bar seemed grumpy at having to pour them! and a plate of ‘artisanal flatbreads with hummus’ for the price of £7.50. When this was served I nearly fell off the pub bench as there were 5 small pancake looking things, and about a tablespoon of hummus (though it was v tasty . Can’t believe the price for what it was.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
