"Amazing people! We were booked in at short notice for Mother's Day and there were 11 of us including 2 children and a baby. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The staff were lovely and very helpful and patient. The chef came out to speak to us several times about our needs and he accommodated all our requests as we had fussy kids and one vegan amongst us. One of the staff brought some toys over for the kids (2 very lively boys! to play with. The food was really good and there was lots of it! The children's portions were quite large too, so if your a little eater like me, one of those would be plenty! It was a set menu but there were various desserts to choose from. Prices were great and it was well worth it. Ask the Mum's in our party (there were 3 got presented with a little plant too "

Lovely pub with very welcoming staff. Food was excellent (we were there on a Thursday which was steak night). Warm friendly bar area and separate restaurant area if you prefer. Well done to all involved at The Boat Inn

Visited the Boat Inn by canal narrow boat. Had a lovely home cooked meal of lamb chops with mash and vegetables. The ale was good too. Thoroughly recommend stopping here. Mooring available on the towpath side of the canal and there is a bridge across.

Well if you are looking for a fabulous Sunday lunch come along to the boat inn at Cheddleton you won't be disappointed. Been coming here for a while now and the food has always been good however on our return this time it was under new management so was thinking maybe the food won't be as nice but how wrong I was . Will definitely be back, best Sunday lunch ever and great value for money at £9.99. We had five veg 2 roast plenty of beef mash potatoes Yorkshire pudding and all homemade.

Great location and very good lager. Jubilee Day! Fantastic turnout and busy but prompt service. Memories of 'The Boat ' as it was many years ago. Keep up the good work!! P.S. prices are good too! Alas, all good things come to an end... and new beginnings! Today, we visited to wish Vince and Julia good luck as they left for a new adventure. They will be a hard act to follow as they have turned the inn around during their occupation. Thanks both for being superb hosts and thanks to your lovely staff. Stay safe x

we called to lunch on the way to our holiday for a weekend away. the personal was attentive, polite and honest. the menu for lunch was roast meat sandwiches and chips, which can see some as limited, perfect for us and eating that came to the table was excellent. absolutely delicious and good value. the pub was pleasantly busy for a Saturday on the afternoon and we enjoyed our time there. while we let in our vacation (churnet reach, which we highly recommend also) we read that many people dine on the boat in the evening and there was no bad word for the place to say. well done.

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
