"Welcoming and attentive stafff (when needed) even though we were last minute later evening booking. Never felt rushed. Food met high expectations. Main courses were cooked perfectly with great accompaniments. The parsnip purée was a highlight for the well judged lamb and chicken. Even a standard pub sticky toffee pudding showed how good this can be with some real attention to detail and finesse by a great team."

The Sunday roast at this restaurant is fantastic. Situated on the river Teme, the location is beautiful. The food is excellent and the service is friendly. The Yorkshire puddings are the best.

What a great find. Can't rate this hotel and restaurant highly enough. Our room was prefect, and the food was fantastic. Staff were super friendly. We've been raving about The Charlton Arms to all of our friends. Can't wait to come back!

Staying at hotel, decided to eat in the restaurant. Nice range of food from not too extensive menu. All prepared and presented well, but overall felt expensive for what we had. Clearly a destination and special treat location, so OK for once in a while.

I ordered the fish and chips, which I found to be fairly average. After reading other reviews, I may have come in with high expectations. My partner had the Chicken Supreme, which was decent, but not outstanding. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice overall.

A beautiful pub with amazing views. Unfortunately, the menu is very small, so not for everyone. Most people we saw had Haddock and chips, which was average. I had burger, again I've had much tastier. Underseasoned and a bit chewy. Really wanted to love it, but just didn't hit the spot.

Lovely pub restaurant overlooking Teme river , about 15 minute walk from town centre. Excellent local beer . Limited menu but Fish chips were outstanding . As it was raining when we left we asked the manager, who was from Latvia, if he could get us a taxi. He said taxis were almost non existent in Ludlow but he would drive us back to our hotel. What service ! Will definitely return.

I really need to rate this at 3 1/2 maybe we need to grade out of 10 not 5 to be more accurate. The food was quite good. the dining room pleasant and staff attentive. So nothing was very good or bad, except the extortionate prices for wine. How they can justify the level of pricing for quite ordinary wine. On that basis alone I would suggest eating elsewhere as there is so much choice in Ludlow.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
