"We came here after a walk in peaks, however after sitting down we had to move as another group came over and their dog lunged and was aggressive to our dog who had been sat there. We moved to another table which was on a slant, as it was the only one available. After getting our drinks and ordering food we sat back down. However within moments, both of our soft drinks had toppled over coating one of us completely. A waitress saw this, however did not offer any assistance (providing a cloth or towels) but she did say she would replace our drinks. However the bar man, Steve, came to us and told us he would not replace our drinks. He told us that they were not responsible for our drinks and we pointed out that we were sat at their table which they had placed on the slant, with no coasters or anything to prevent them falling. Whilst I can somewhat understand, Steve was incredibly hostile and rude. Offered no apology and was unflinching on his position. In the end we decided to leave, not because they would not replace our drinks, but because of the way we were spoken to. I asked if Steve was the owner or manager and was advised he was not, so I'm not sure where he got the gall to be so rude to customers. The poor waitresses clearly looked uncomfortable. If Steve had apologised said that this had happened before but unfortunately he wasn't able to replace we would have somewhat understood. However Steve was rude, extremely hostile and aggressive as if we had walked in and demanded free drinks. We had our food refunded and left. If the owners or management care about customer service I would suggest considering whether Steve is the type of person who should be customer facing. We had spent £40 on food that they had to refund, which feels like it's counter productive considering to replace two post mix drinks would cost the venue at most 50p."

We received a warm welcome from friendly staff upon arrival. The dining experience was enjoyable with great service. I highly recommend trying the homemade lasagne. Make sure to save some room for dessert. Additionally, the restaurant is dog-friendly.

If you are looking for a traditional Englishpub to stay in you wont go far wrong choosing the Cheshire Cheese. We had a room for a weekend and it was great, good location for everything around Edale valley. Nice local beers and a fantastic breakfast and excellent hosts.

Located in a typical 16th century gas house, this restaurant offers a complete page of vegetarian and vegan dressing options along with another full page dedicated to gluten-free dishes. The beer options are impressive, and the staff is incredibly friendly. After a long walk in the Peak District, this restaurant is the perfect spot for a tasty bite. I highly recommend dining here for a unique and delicious experience. Ver carta

We walked-in on a Sunday, which meant there was no indoor seating available, so reservations are probably a good idea for Sundays at the very least. However there's a nice outdoor area and the weather was nice.I appreciated the menu being detailed about the vegan options and having 5 of them. Vegan options can vary a lot in how they are made so knowing what I could be in for was nice.I ordered the plant based burger meal, which was nice but not amazing: the patty was good and similar to the plant-chef fridge patties done by tesco, but something about the everything else wasn't quite hitting the spot for me; the homemade chips were really good and the salad was crunchy with a lovely dressing....

Eating Sunday lunch here with friends all four of us opted for the roast dinner, three pork and one turkey. The meat was fine but the vegetables were overcooked, the portion of roast potatoes a little on the stingy side, the tiny dried-up ball of stuffing was barely recognisable, and the meagre portion of gravy in a boat arrived already weirdly gelatinous with white spots in it. Both meats were described as including piggies in blankets but the pork meals arrived without these on the plate. We politely mentioned to our server this was on the menu, she said the kitchen didn’t serve them with the pork, went away to talk to the kitchen and came back to confirm that.It took us fetching and point...

"Walked in and the girl behind the bar (wearing a coat still) didn’t even aknowledge us…. Took our drink order at the bar when she got to us and pointed our table out. I ordered a soft drink, they’re all just cans. My partner ordered a pint, it smelt of wet dog. The menus are big chalk boards by the door, so you have to stand and squash between a door and the bar to read the menu. The menus are big and look absolutely great. Unfortunately it was better on paper than on the plate. Ordered starters, took 30 minutes to come out. I had garlic prawns, they were on garlic bread which was soggy in oil and grease. Not what I expected and it was horrible. My partner had chicken kebabs. It was literally a slither of chicken on a stick. It was so dry one half fell off when he touched it with a fork. Next we both ordered the steak, £30 each. Sirloin steak, all the trimmings, and a sauce. My steak was AWFUL covered in lumps of fat and tasted of leather. My partners wasn’t much better. I ordered the peppercorn sauce, it was yellow, like custard and made me feel physically sick. ‘All the trimmings’ was chopped mushrooms, onion rings (basically no onion just greasy batter) and a bowl of peas (between 2) and a bowl of chips (between 2) I couldn’t even eat mine so they did offer something else, which I declined so they took it off the bill, which I appreciated until we could hear them slagging us off in the kitchen pointing out that the other steak was fine…. Toilets dead flies on walls, and I thought the toilet was grey but it was dust. Restaurant cold, holes in wall, heater next to us splattered in grease and food. Staff ok but need a waitress to take orders and treat it like a restaurant when paying £30 for meals! It’s not cheap, seems like they don’t actually have a clear vision for the place. Menus look amazing!!! Just need someone that can cook it."
