"We’ve just returned from having stayed at Chestnuts Country House for five nights it was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at with lovely gardens and surroundings. Our room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable breakfast was amazing it was very difficult to choose from the extensive menu!! Very generous portions and absolutely delicious!! Each day we would return from our travels to wonderful home baking left in our room which was a really lovely touch and most enjoyable. Our hosts David and Kelly couldn’t have been more kind, generous and helpful and we look forward to returning there again sometime in the future."

It's a stunning little place in the country. The service from the owners is second to none .. The rooms are gorgeous.

We enjoyed a early evening meal in this great pub just outside Nottingham. The food was fabulous and the quality quite unexpected,

The reviews say it all there is little I can add, except to say you don’t achieve reviews such as these without very good reason. Don’t hesitate to make a booking. You will certainly not be disappointed. It truly is a little piece of heaven absolute perfection in every way.

Best lodging on our whole trip. Room was wonderful and our hostess was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. This is a very relaxing location nestled in a very small town but easy driving distance to pubs and restaurants. A perfect place to stay between London and York. Ver carta

There are only 5 stars on the scale to rate this... Needs more!! The Chestnuts is a little slice of Heaven in the countryside. Kelly and David are the perfect hosts and seem to think of everything to make your stay magnificent... We particularly love the EV chargers on site and the dog-friendliness! Oh, and did I mention the breakfasts?!?! Out of this WORLD...

The Chestnuts definitely deserves all the five star reviews. The bedroom was immaculate and very well equipped, they've thought of everything. The breakfast was superb, so much choice. We stayed for a couple of nights whilst going to cricket at Trent Bridge, and hope to return to the Chestnuts next summer when we can sit outside of an evening and hopefully play croquet. Wonderful accommodation in a lovely setting.

Just spent an amazing couple of days here, enjoying 5 star plus accommodation. Kelly and David have to be the best B&B hosts – and we’ve experienced quite a few over our decades! The breakfast menu offers a wide variety of innovative options featuring some Victorian treats with delicious locally sourced and home-made delights. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and would highly recommend a visit. Andy and Ally. Ver carta

A wonderful and memorable stay thank you. From the moment we arrived, Kelly and David were warm and friendly and the room was immaculate and super cosy and Kelly's cake and flapjack went down a treat. This bed and breakfast is another level and the breakfast was divine. I've never had such delicious food to start my day and my son gave the pineapple and pink peppercorn jam and his pancake stack a big thumbs up. We will definitely be back to enjoy the grounds, sunrises and sunsets in another season.

I was looking for a dog-friendly place to stay on my journey back home from Devon and stumbled upon The Chestnuts Country House Boutique B&B. After reading reviews and exploring the website, I immediately booked a room. This B&B is truly remarkable - not only is it dog-friendly with treats and towels in the room, but dogs are also welcomed everywhere on the property. The accommodations are of high quality and offer great value. Hosts Kelly and David were extremely helpful and accommodating, and breakfast in the beautiful dining room was a delightful experience. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be staying here again.

"We live about 25 miles from East Bridgford and have friends who live nearby and also in Newark on Trent, and have once previously called in to the Royal Oak for a drink. Today however we had lunch with our friends and it was absolutely marvellous. I had reviewed the menu beforehand and it looked good but I was expecting decent pub fare. My expectations were exceeded. The meals we enjoyed were superb restaurant quality and tasted delicious. This marvellous food was matched with friendly relaxed and happy service which always makes a good meal go very well. I had a lovely light starter of three types of beetroot with goats cheese in a light dressing which was fresh and very, very tasty. To follow, I chose a smoked haddock with green beans in a mustard cream sauce which perfectly cooked and was better than delicious. It was sublime. (It’s normally served with new potatoes but I am avoiding potatoes . My friends variously enjoyed tempura king prawns with chilli dip, braised lamb with mashed potato, steak and ale pie, and fish and chips and one even made it to a sticky toffee pudding finale. Everything was enjoyed. The invisible team in the kitchen deserve 11/10 for the food offer and the full Royal Oak team get five stars+ from us for the whole experience. We will be back. (PS. I’m going to try and recreate that smoked haddock dish at home Any tips on the mustard sauce?"

"I'll start with the positives. The interaction I had on Facebook to book a table, and then change the booking, was very positive. The two young waitresses who served us were great. The pub is shabby with rubbish and cigarette butts scattered outside the door...and a smell of smoke in the doorway. The décor is tired and tatty, and the bench seat in the restaurant area has a big split in it. The floor of the restaurant had bits of food and other rubbish on it. The salt and pepper and vinegar bottle didn't look like they'd been cleaned for a few days. The food was uninspiring, and mostly overcooked. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and were mostly inedible (when we commented on this, the waitress said she was too scared of the chef to say anything to him). The roast potatoes were hard and tough. The vegetables (not enough for 6 of us from one dish) were not great and the cauliflower cheese was the most uninspiring I've had for a long time. The lamb was OK, but that's all I can say about it. The whole menu (apart from a goat's cheese salad) was dull and unimaginative, even allowing for the fact that for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day most people want roasts. We didn't bother staying to have desserts. I thought from the TripAdvisor reviews that we were going to a gastropub, or a pub with a super restaurant. It was like having a meal in a pub 30 years ago, which is fine if that's what you want. It was a dreadful experience and not at all the way we wanted to celebrate my son's birthday and Mother's Day. We will not go back again."
