"Now posted public as they have failed to respond to my email: Hi, we have been coming to the Corbett Arms on a regular basis for a long time especially for Sunday evening dinner. We've always been very pleased with the food and the service however the last two Sundays we have both been very disappointed. The previous Sunday when the food was served (roast beef) the food was cold. We raised a concern regarding this and the waitress apologised and promptly took the food away. I was extremely surprised when she returned that the food had just been reheated in a microwave. Every thing had been warmed including the horseradish source. This, in my opinion, was not acceptable. We should have been served a fresh hot meal. We did eat the food only due to the time as if we had left to go elsewhere it would have been to late. I would also point out that I'm aware that two other tables returned their food due to it being cold. We love the Corbett Arms that much and we thought it was a one off so we decided to book again for the following weekend Sunday 22nd October. Unfortunately we've been disappointed again as the beef, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were not hot but the vegetables were. The cut /joint of beef was also not the best, never had this issue before. Also I would like to point out that your menu states the meal, we normally opt for (beef), is served with fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, carrot swede mash and home made gravy. Last night my partner queried with the waitress why we had no been served the carrot and swede mash. The response was sorry we've ran out. As I said before we've been coming on a Sunday for dinner very regularly,on the evening. I can not recall the last time we were served carrot and swede mash. Surely you haven't run out for the last 3-4 months? We both love love the Corbett Arms but after being disappointed on the last two occasions we are now considering dinning elsewhere on a Sunday. Kind regards Gary and Beverley"

Had a lovely meal, the staff were very welcoming on what was a busy Friday evening, our server was very good in explaining the gluten free options for our friend. On the whole a great experience and we will be back for our Christmas get together

Just returned from another brilliant stay at the Corbet arms. We always stay here when we visit our daughter in Shrewsbury and are never disappointed. Must mention Elaine who runs the Restaurant at breakfast time with military precision and always has a smile for everyone. Also a shout out for the house maids who also are very friendly and polite .All in all a superb and relaxing few days .One tip though if thinking of going for a meal always book to avoid disappointment especially for Sunday lunch as it gets really busy. I had steak ale pie chips peas . I can honestly say the worse chips I've ever had I asked for English mustard I got some cheap mustard which could not disguise the awful taste the chips left . The pie was pretty awful . Noone came to see if meal was OK. I did complain to a waitress who didn't seem to care less it was easy to see I had eaten little she didn't offer any discount if it had been one of the younger ones I could of understand her indifference . Been many times but not again . I've also had that meal before but this was nothing like that .

We chose The Corbett Arms for my mother’s funeral wake as she had spent a lot of time there with her local WI group. The service we received was excellent. From start to finish all the staff were professional and kind. The large room easily accommodated the 80+ guests. The tables were neatly arranged with white linen cloths. The food was excellent and plentiful. My wife and I also ate dinner on 2 nights. The first a delicious carvery and the second an equally good a la carte. We would recommend The Corbett Arms to anyone having a family gathering of whatever sort.

Great food but a disappointing experience for a family celebration. We had to wait an hour for our dinner because the order hadn't been sent through to the kitchen. A waitress came out and apologised, said the order was on a rush and we wouldn't be charged for our mains, so it was acceptable. When the bill came out we were charged for everything and on querying it with the manager he refused to give a food discount after all and just took our drinks (all soft) off the bill. We thought we had found a good place for lunch but sadly we won't be returning now or recommending it to anyone else. Ver carta

We booked this pub based on its location and reviews and we weren’t disappointed. The pub is great with the largest beer garden I’ve ever seen, it’s spotlessly clean throughout and the food at the bar and in the restaurant was very good with absolutely huge portions and I think quite possibly the best chips I’ve ever had !! We had a room on the top floor that again was absolutely spotlessly clean, neat, superbly appointed and even the communal areas had additional coffee sachets and toiletries available should you need more. Restaurant Staff were really pleasant but a special mention had to go to Luke I hope that was his name) at the bar. He checked us in early and served us at the bar. All...

Tonight was a family meal , to celebrate a 70th Bithday for my partners dad. 17 people and all food was lacking, All preordered. The ploughman's lunch had been premade. salad was a few wilted leaves drowned in a sauce. Apple was in peices and coured brown. Ham was miss coloured and in a slab. 4 pickelled onions and a small savers pork pie, which looked like it was from a savers bag . A half slice of two diffrent breads. Stale. Then one of our table had a burger, with moldy bread. All of the fish n chips over cooked and mushy peas , that were in a solid block. I dont even want to say that we were never asked if meals were OK. So poor ! Really beautiful room but. Service was shocking. I will n...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
