"Absolutely dreadful, the customer service by the young lady behind the bar who also took our order was non existent and very rude. What went wrong: argumentative bar lady arguing that the ham, eggs and chips was just 1 egg when the menu said 2 getting the eggs cooked incorrectly (one was meant to be well cooked) and taking 5 minutes to decide if it could be taken back to the kitchen to see the frying pan for a minute more eventually agreed to 2 eggs each and these came out piecemeal, meanwhile the food on the plates was getting cold a side of onion rings and one of salad did not arrive. When I asked about this she went to the kitchen to check. She came back and said as she had not put that part of our order through to the kitchen, the chef refused to cook it now! I asked then if I put a new order in for them now, will the chef cook them. I was initially told no, as they were not on the original order they would not be cooked now! They eventually relented and onion rings arrived about 15 minutes after the first main my friend ordered half a pint of beer, a full pint arrived. The lady acknowledged it was her mistake (she did use the words it 's my mistake an awful lot yesterday), but we were still charged for the pint. What went right: Nothing The rudeness of the lady at the bar, and the attitude of whoever is in the kitchen is appalling. I am all for saving local pubs, but this one really needs a shake up."

The lunch we had was excellent, with all the dishes cooked fresh. The apple and rhubarb crumble with custard for dessert was delicious, as were the other desserts enjoyed at our table. It was great value for money. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of parking available.

What a great lunch we had 4 different meals all cooked fresh 1. Fish and chips 1 rump steak 1. Lasagne with garlic bread 1. Breaded chicken with chips 2 delicious pints. A fruit cider and Diet Coke A very short wait but really worth it All for just less than £60 Will definitely return and would recommend the pub

This was our 1st time at the Dog and Gun for a family gathering of 30 people Charlotte and her husband were very welcoming and friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The buffet was very generous with lots of variety for all, there was a bouncy castle for the children in the large garden with plenty of outdoor seating with a large car park. We will revisit and we highly recommend you use the Dog and Gun for your family gathering or just visit this traditional pub. Ver carta

We had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. When we arrived, there was only one other table in use. After placing our order, we waited a while for our food and were told it was on its way with the other tables. When our food finally arrived, we found that 3 out of the 4 dishes we ordered had been microwaved and were not cooked properly. The lasagne and chilli were hot on the edges but cold in the middle, and my cajun chicken did not taste like cajun chicken at all. The only dish that was edible was the steak. Another diner approached us and shared that they were not happy with their food either and were leaving without paying. We decided to follow suit, paying only for the lasagne...

We live fairly locally to this pub and used to visit under old management and it was a lovely country pub with a nice atmosphere. However it has now been taken over by a new landlady and all I can say is rude with no customer service at all. We ordered a round of drinks one being a prosecco to which the bottle was handed over and we were asked if we wanted a glass with it. Very strange question as I don 't know many who would drink a prosecco with friends straight from the bottle. Secondly a gin was ordered which was a half measure served in a cola glass no ice or slice offered. When advised a gin cannot be served in a glass like this the rude landlady said we haven 't got any we 've been bu...

"If your taste buds are about as refined as a brick or wet stone and you think that a gourmet meal is anything that doesn’t come out of a tin, then welcome to your new favourite spot. Maybe the writing was on the wall before we arrived, or should I say in the name. W(h)et Stone! We ventured into this culinary catastrophe and dared to order their so-called Standard Breakfast, with the simple request to hold the Black Pudding. Now, despite my 20/20 vision, I found myself in a game of hide-and-seek with what was supposed to be a complimentary egg. Spoiler alert: the egg didn’t show up. My equally unfortunate accomplice, decided to try the Veggie Breakfast. To our bewilderment, what they called a veggie burger turned out to be two sad, cylindrical objects that could only be veggie sausages in some parallel universe where taste and texture don’t matter. They were more like the offspring of a failed experiment between tofu and despair. The speed at which our order arrived was impressive, reminiscent of a fast-food joint that’s given up on even pretending to care. This, of course, means that the only thing likely cooked to order were the eggs, assuming they ever existed, which in my case, they did not. Now, let’s talk value. We handed over £15.50 for this dismal duo of breakfasts, and it felt like being mugged in broad daylight. To call it a waste of money is an understatement. I’ve had more satisfying meals from a vending machine. This place attracts a very particular type of clientele – the kind who couldn’t tell the difference between cheap produce and quality food if it danced naked in front of them. Look around, and you’ll quickly identify the patrons: a smattering of motor garages, the local council refuse and waste depot workers, and a business unit know for equipping you with everything you need to start your own cannabis farm. It’s a haven for those who believe that ketchup is a food group and whose idea of fine dining involves a plastic tray and a microwave. The decor, if you can call it that, looks like it was assembled by someone who lost a bet. It’s as if they raided a charity shop clearance sale and thought, “This will do.” Mismatched chairs, tables that wobble more than a drunk-on roller skates, and lighting that makes everyone look like they’ve just escaped from a horror film. It’s an ambiance that screams, “We’ve given up.” And let’s delve deeper into the quality of the food – or lack thereof. The bacon was a crime against pork, more like leather strips that had been left out in the sun for days. The sausages were pale, lifeless tubes that seemed to be filled with something that might have once been meat but had long since lost any connection to flavour. The beans, oh the beans, were a sad, gelatinous mass that resembled something you’d find in a science experiment gone wrong. The mushrooms were soggy, lukewarm and tasted as if they had been soaked in dishwater, and the tomatoes were limp, flavourless blobs that might as well have been plastic. Each bite was a journey through the various ways one can ruin perfectly good ingredients. Even the tea, a British staple that’s hard to mess up, was a travesty, arriving tepid and with a faintly metallic taste as if it had been steeped in an old tin can. Every element of the meal screamed indifference and a total lack of culinary skill. It’s as if the chef had a personal vendetta against food and decided to take it out on the customers. Each bite was a new low, a fresh insult to the taste buds, leaving you wondering how on earth this place stays in business. In summary, if you’re looking for a place where culinary dreams go to die, where value for money is a distant fantasy, and where the clientele would struggle to distinguish fine dining from dog food, then this is your spot. Just remember to bring your sense of humour, because you’ll need it to survive this gastronomic nightmare.
