"Food and Drinks: Our expectations for The Vine Tree were quite high, but we ended up feeling a little disappointed. On the positive side, the menu offers a more interesting selection than most places in the area. The restaurant staff were attentive and skilled, which was fantastic. However, the quality of the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. It seems like the chef may have overdone it with the salt, as all our savory dishes were heavily seasoned; otherwise, the flavors were excellent. Two of us ordered dishes with king prawns, but they turned out tough and rubbery, which was disappointing. On the bright side, the duck was delicious and perfectly cooked. The steak was good but not exceptional; with so many venues serving steak, it’s hard to truly stand out. Overall, we found it difficult to add The Vine Tree to our “must eat here again” list."

"Came to this place as the Google reviews was great, but don't be fooled, the fish I received was very soggy and oily and so was my girlfriends sausage and batter! You would expect it to have some sort of crunch! The chips was okish and they use cheap tartar sauce packets. Overall we won't be coming back. My suggestion is go to the CodFather in Abergavenny, much better local fish bar :"

"We have had two Sunday lunches here recently whilst our kitchen was being fitted. The meat is always sooooo tender and good portions. The service is very good even though they are always busy. Our daughter rated their Nut Roast as being one of the best she’s ever had in a restaurant. Very lucky to have this on our doorstep. Oh, and dogs are very welcome everywhere."

"it really has to deal with how we were treated both during our stay and after. we were for a night in dragon inn with friends who were visited from Australia while we went the beacons way. the food was not good and we heard some other tables to complain about it. but the reason why I write this evaluation is that we were kept up to the early morning hours by the workers who play music, even though we went down at midnight and asked them to turn off the music. when we complained in the morning, the team of employees accused us of giving up the music (apologizing me to go down in the middle of the night and hear it in the pub) and told us that there is nothing she could do and contact the manager. I have tried to contact the manager since our stay to solve the problem by email, facebook and phone, but were ignored. I've never left a bad review, but the experience ruined our trip and I'm really mad as we've been treated since then. if they wish a relaxing stay in crickhowell and are treated decently, I would advise to stay somewhere else."

"Lovely traditional cafe in the centre of Crickhowell in an Interesting building, actually, as the name subtly suggests, an old Court Room! Up a flight of stairs, then a warm and friendly greeting, the staff in here are lovely. Very light and airy room, with large windows open wide in decent weather. The labelled homemade food is all displayed behind glass, so you can see what to choose from, and it's all good pies, bakes, quiches, sandwiches (cakes too). Chicken and Spinach Bake is delicious, but our favourite is the lasagne, really good. Comes with a choice of baked potato or salad, and what an array of different salads you get, all very good. If I have room for pudding helpings are generous here the Pineapple Upsidedown Cake with cream (or custard or ice cream) is a real treat. Opens 9 am 3 pm, so a great place for morning coffee and cake, and lunch too. Excellent service, great food, and a lovely place to be. Seems very popular with locals, always a good sign, but welcoming to tourists too. This cafe has high standards and gives very good value for money. Recommended."
