"After a lengthy wait, our food finally came out. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were served without the necessary accompaniments, and when we inquired about them, we were told without an apology that they had run out. The three plates of fish and chips—which we had been told were the last three available—were almost inedible; they seemed like they had been left from the night before. On the other hand, the burgers were much better, and there were no complaints from the five of us who ordered them. We also had to wait a long time for the bill and ended up paying at the cash register. To their credit, they did not charge us for the fish and chips, and the gentleman behind the bar was very apologetic. It's a real shame because this place has a lot of potential, but it feels like a ship without a rudder. Perhaps, as suggested by its name, it has lost its direction and needs a good captain to get it back on course."

Unfortunately if you want decent food, this is not the place. Such a shame, as a lovely setting.

The food is fine, not bad, but not great, I had the roast. Choice of ales is not what I expected, they seem to be hoping you'll go for a lager. Ver carta

We used to be regular visitors to the drift pre COVID and thought we would re visit. The food was very tasty and nicely presented however I thought it was very expensive

I had a lovely Sunday dinner. The Christmas decorations added a cozy atmosphere. The service was excellent, as was the food. Although the menu selection was somewhat limited and the prices were on the higher side, overall it was a very pleasant experience.

I visited this restaurant for breakfast and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was great—warm and inviting, even on a humid day. The food was excellent and sourced locally, which I really appreciated. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. Overall, it was a fantastic visit! Ver carta

We came for a family pre- Christmas meal and brought our dog along. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful from the start. When one of our party became unexpectedly ill-nothing whatsoever to do with the food and drink I might add-the staff went into overdrive. The standard of care shown by the duty manager and the whole team was outstanding. I cannot thank or praise them enough. A five star service all round.

Food was bang average, I would 've expected a higher quality from the prices they are asking. Service was a let down, firstly asked if the squid was cooked fresh in house- to which we were told yes of course. The squid turned up and was clearly a frozen wholesale style dish, not freshly prepared at all. We also ordered some nibbles, to turn up before the food to have with our drinks (bar nuts, olives, etc. , these ended up coming out with our main courses, even though these items were stated on the menu under 'While You Wait '. The mains came out and were good, but felt like poorly executed spin offs of other local establishments menu picks. Overall I 'd give this pub a 5/10, if you 're desp...

"After all of the Celebrities chefs raising awareness on British cuisine, we have gone all the way backwards. What a disappointment the Crown Stirrup was, I came from Bournemouth to enjoy a good and traditional Sunday Lunch in the New Forrest. Did anyone tell the owner its post COVID so get your garden cleaned up. The place looks closed, and it was quite and the reason could be the food the most disappointing area served by staff that have their trousers hanging around their thighs exposing underpants and buttocks to the customers while they ate. I ordered Whitebait which were as big as sardines, so big they were coated in breadcrumbs and placed on top of the tartare sauce (not freshly made) small side salad no lemon. Whitebait are sprat, small about an inch long coated in milk and seasoned flour served with a vessel of tartare sauce and side of lemon, can have sprinkling of paprika or Cayenne. Oh but the main course was something else, overcooked beef with rubber roasts peas and carrots coated in flavorless packet gravy, glossy and shiny awful, and the red cabbage same watery purple liquid finished off with supermarket horseradish sauce. All through lunch some music blaring through what seemed like a transistor radio. Just when you thought it was safe to venture out for Sunday Lunch there is the Crown Stirrup in Lyndhurst. Close up not good for british pubs and its culinary scene."

"I didn't know what to expect when you came. we came mid-februar while on holiday and the weather was not great, so thought it was a day out undercover. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. the website is quite large, we started with the top wheel area, which was really good, it was great near some of the wacky creations that were made in the run of the years. we stopped eating a bite before it had to do, and the prices were not bad, probably on the somewhat higher side, but the cakes were very good. we moved to the main museum and were shocked to see how many cars and bikes they have built into the large building. everywhere you turn around another vehicle inconspicuously clean and many information about it. the range of vehicles is huge from the first cars to modern. we loved the 007 exhibition, where they could get up close to the cars from the last movie, it was nice to get so close without them on sockel meters away. there is an old-timer bus ride and a one-way track that they take around the website that was nice to do. we looked around the abtei and the house (included in price) and made a walk along the river. when they receive gift help they get back to the year to come, but what was not made clear at the time when they come back, they only get entering the motor museum and no other attraction or house that was a little disappointing. the only thing that it really leaves for us, although a fairly quiet day tries to eat between 12 and 2 to midday, leads to a long wait and wait. there are many picnic spots, so on a sunny day I think that would be a great place to go, but also on a wet day it is a good day out if they don't mind getting a little wet as they go between the exponate house and gardens."
