"First things first, this is an expensive pub. It’s part of Young’s chain and as that it, looks like most other establishments of said chain. Don’t get this wrong, it’s as cosy, clean and in good condition as any other Young’s, this comes at a literal price, however. The food and beer are pricey so much, that I can even say they’re overpriced. The food portions are rather on the smallish side. Taste wise I do not see any reason to justify the expense. Out of the couple of times I have attended the place,I can remember two occasions rather distinctly. Once I had the dish from my plate spilt on me by the waiter, and a second time the meat was quite noticeably overcooked. Beer and cider prices are, like I said before, horrendous."

a little above average pub. Since I was there, it's very neat. beautiful mood and a social amount. simple lazy simple eating with a glass wine or a bottled beer.

the menu was normal pub duck. if I eat, I like to have something I couldn't prepare at home. not much on the menu has addressed me. I dropped on steak and chips, the average, although the proportion was small. what really hit me back was the bill. paid £65 for a meal that probably costs £40 £50 elsewhere. Ver carta

Can’t fault the food at The Dukes Head. Eaten lunch and dinner here a few times and every time the quality is superb and portions are great. Natalie and Neil run a very efficient friendly team and always happy and accommodating. Knocks spots off any other pub serving food in the area. 5* Price per person: £70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

hard review to write because it delicious pub farewell, a bit expensive, but tasty. the ham and cheese toastia was fantastic, I could eat it every day for a year! the black pudding and ei, the sazzy saz ordered, was weak, the part was remarkably small and much overpriced, it was lawfully three whole bites. the ploughman’s platter was considerable and was good, but not spectacular I would go back, they have a great beer selection that certainly helps.

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
