"Probably the worst greasy spoon around, my particular experience was fish, chips and mushy peas. The chips, well God knows when they were prepared, they were dark soft and oozed fat/oil just as the battered fish did. My son's short rib of beef was dry, my grandson's salmon was dressed with a sauce which had been served so dry and over cooked he lifted it off like a shuck. Does this publican or his so called chef look at or taste their own food!!! This was a birthday celebration, we did not make a fuss to spoil the occasion for our our special guest, the food managed to do that. We pushed the food around our plates to find something edible, no luck there. It wasn't just one dish it was all consistently bad. Time for a new chef. After much thought the next day we decided to try again elsewhere the following evening which was brilliant and where everyone was relieved to discuss the appalling experience at the Farmers Arms. Very bad show, don't waste your money or put your taste buds through it."

Food very average , a potato cut in four with skin on and deep fried is not a chip . Portion very small . Massively under staffed . While being served at the bar the older assuming senior bar man stopped serving me to deal with an other member of staffs query . Rude and unprofessional.

Came for an evening meal with our children whilst staying nearby on holiday. Great pub, lovely food and lovely friendly staff especially Chloe who was so nice whilst dealing with our childrens bland and picky food requirements. If we are ever in the area again we will definatley be back. Thank you so much

Visited here for a bit of lunch, food was great reasonably priced and tasted good. Unsure why the chips have skin on though?? Thought that was wedges?? The staff are super friendly and the pub is relaxed and down to earth no false pretences. Toilets could do with a bit of clean but overall a good experience will go back.

Stopped here overnight in our motorhome and went in for dinner. Absolutely superb! The service was friendly and efficient. The place is spotlessly clean and has very nice decor and the food was brilliant. Try the Percival burger or the soy and ginger salmon! And they welcome dogs. What's not to like? We have no hesitation in highly recommending this pub. Well done.

A great restaurant for meeting up with the extended family. The Farmers Arms fitted us in on the day, 10 of us and 2 dogs. We all ate well from a varied menu. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. My chicken supreme was well cooked and tasty and we all cleared our plates. I especially enjoyed the chocolate brownie and the children loved their Macaroni Cheese.

24 July Had the gluten free fish and chips which was fantastic. Also had 3 coarse meal of: Starter, chicken strips which was great Main, pepperoni pizza which had a nice base very little pepperoni but absolutely covered in way too much cheese. People on next table handed theirs back as it was the same. Desert, ice cream which was ok. Nice atmosphere in the place with good music. Star of the show in this place is the staff especially Evie, she was perfect one of the best

We took our friend out for her birthday, one off our friends had the beef casserole with cheesy dumplings, the meat was very tough and chewy, also the veg was under cooked,She had only been their a couple weeks with her family, had the same meal, she had it again because she had enjoyed it so much that time. She had the Yorkshire meringue, but that wasn’t the same as last time , the other also had it, when it came out it looked awful, and slop. Very disappointing. She is not one to complain.

The 4 stars is based on the food; we stayed overnight and the room wasn’t as good. The Farmers Arms has a great menu, and the food is home cooked quite a rare thing these days! We had the vegetarian curry and it was fantastic. Plenty of drinks options too. Staff are really friendly. There is a bar area with a bit atmosphere, a quieter area to dine in and plenty of seating outside, including a play area for kids. I’d definitely recommend a meal here if you’re in the area. We were doing the Coast to Coast, so stayed overnight too. If you’re considering this, it’s fine but nothing special. The room was spacious but a bit grimy, and the bathroom was a bit small. Lots of tea and coffee options th...

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
