"Almost perfect, but the advertised cooked breakfast wasn't available, the Sunday roast beef was tough, and the pillows weren't very comfortable. Such a shame as it's a great place otherwise. We really enjoyed the quiz, which I think is the first Sunday of the month and the lady who does it is really lovely. It's a beautiful village too. Rooms: There are only 2 rooms, a double ensuite and another family unit which is a double ensuite with a separate bedroom next door to it which is just big enough for 2 single beds, so great for a family. Lovely decor, very clean, excellent ensuites. We were very impressed with the rooms. In fact the wallpaper and fabric throughout was lovely. Food drinks: Such a shame. Hubby likes a cooked breakfast when we're away so we only book rooms with a full English. We weren't told until we arrived at 5pm that there was only a continental breakfast for £10 available, but we were informed that we'd be able to get a full English at the cafe across the road .... nope! The cafe doesn't operate it's kitchen on a Monday. Be aware that the day before arrival we were also told that there may not be any Sunday roast dinners available. Luckily for us, or maybe not, there was roast beef. Unfortunately it was so tough we had to ask for steak knives to cut it. Veg, particularly cauliflower cheese, was lovely though. Staff also extremely nice. Suggestion to owners ... don't advertise something you can't guarantee to deliver because we were disappointed."

We dined at the George and had two wonderful meals. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Overall, I rate the service and location a perfect 5 out of 5. Hotel highlights include a romantic and quiet atmosphere.

Delightful, proper old pub in a beautiful village. All nooks and crannies and little wood panelled rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent ales. Lovely choice on the menu and excellent food. Freshly cooked scotch egg anyone? Service: 5 Location: 5

This is how pubs should be. So often we get dreary overpriced food, but not at the George. Excellent beer and well cooked food especially the fresh al dente vegetables. They still do a good Sunday Lunch, which I was beginning to think was extinct. Well done! Service: 5 Location: 5

The food is great, and there's a nice selection of local beers on tap. However, my only complaint is that the owner seems more interested in chatting with the locals than attending the bar. It was a bit disappointing, especially since I stopped by while driving through and expected a warmer level of hospitality.
