"Ignore previous reviews based on previous owners. We visit this pub regularly when in Bedale. Never had such an awful experience in a pub in my life. 3 large dogs roaming around off the lead. 2 Staffies and a German Shepherd. A drunk chav in charge apparently. A lady behind the bar who CANNOT pull a pint of ale. I don’t need to go on. A waste of money and upsetting to see a good pub run in the ground especially after the tough time this industry has faced. Zero effort put into this pub and looks like it’s just being used as a chav drop in centre drunk mates free for all. AWFUL. Spend your money elsewhere on the high street and leave them to it."

"We were staying in Crakehall so this pub was on the doorstep. My partner had booked a table for 7pm and asked for a bottle of wine to be on the table as a surprise. They didn’t disappoint. When we arrived we were shown to our table which was in the bay window, looking out at the wonderful greenery with a bottle of wine waiting, it was perfect. I am coeliac so eating out can be a struggle. However, the owner came and sat with us and talked through the menu options for me. He explained he had changed the oil that day so it was fresh and safe for the chips. He had saved a gammon steak as my choice was limited so wanted to give me more to choose from. I went for the gammon and my partner went for the chicken curry. It was great food. The atmosphere was very family orientated. We couldn’t have asked for anything better, it was perfect, thank-you!"

"This restaurant used to be a nice place, but the last two visits were truly terrible. I ordered a sausage sandwich for myself and a children's portion for my son, both without butter. I was assured this was no problem. However, both sandwiches came out the same: average size in a cheap roll (rather than the previous big granary roll) with poor quality sausages that were barely cooked and smothered in butter. When I mentioned this at payment, I was offered a discount. Despite this, I still paid nearly £16 for the meal (including two drinks). I have been a loyal customer for years, but I will not be returning. It's a shame that Bedale is lacking in good cafes, as this place is certainly not the solution."

"I had a fantastic dining experience with excellent food and service. For dinner, the cost per person was between £20 and £30. I would rate the food a solid 5 out of 5, as well as the service and atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the Mughal Chicken, Naan, Poppadoms, and Chicken Tikka. As for vegetarian options, I’m not certain what’s available."

"We made a reservation at this restaurant during a short getaway in nearby Masham. It wasn't our first choice, as many places in Masham were fully booked. Upon arrival, we felt a little nervous, seeing the restaurant quite empty, and we began to question our decision. However, our apprehension quickly vanished once we had our starter, which was delicious and generously portioned. The main course — a salmon special — exceeded all expectations and was the best I've ever had, complemented perfectly by the accompanying vegetables and potatoes. The previous courses were so impressive that we couldn't resist ordering dessert, and it certainly lived up to our high expectations. Although the location is a bit off the beaten path, the quality of the food makes it worth the trip, and the prices are reasonable given the caliber of the dishes. I just wish it were closer to home so we could visit more often. Service: 5, Location: 5."
