"fabulous family dinner last night! 4 adult and a teenager. friendly, happy staff and great service. can recommend the black pudding and speck starter. not locally we have never been a parmo and they are fabulous, huge with by-shalat, homemade chips and koleslaw. my son had the brownie, the fab slept and also tasted. very recommend brilliant worth, we were so far away! natives seem to be happy to have jackie back in the kitchen and we agree!"

A proper village pub with no airs and graces, roaring fires and cold beers. Not as busy as the pub next door but for me that is part of the charm.

This pub has a great friendly atmosphere is well frequented by locals and outsiders it has a good range of ales large beer garden smoking area 2 open fires and welcoming staff

Fantastic Sunday lunch so good to have Jacqui back in the kitchen. Between the 7 of us we ordered pretty much everything on the menu and everyone left clean plates. Definitely recommend

A proper friendly old pub. Beer choice nothing special but a nice warm fire and friendly enough clientele. Ideal spot to stop off for a pint after a walk up Penshaw monument on a cold day.

Haven't been for a while, partly because it was always so empty, but was pleasantly surprised, quite a few people in, and it was a lovely friendly atmosphere, bar staff friendly and a lovely open fire,

always friendly staff and eating is beautiful. nothing is always too much annoyed. the price for food is very reasonable here if one considers the quality of food. the best, melt them in the mouth file they have ever mmmmm

Fab service fab food and reasonable prices... I requested bbq sauce and the young polite lad who served our food said there wasnt any.... BUT.... He would make some... 1st time ive ever heard anyone offer to make a sauce up... And it was abs lovely will defo be back and recommend

thanks for the nice eating a nice staff of the service was excellent. the second time that I was in the pub for the first time with my wife, that we had a nice meal at the second time with my family we had drinks served directly with a warm welcome dinner, it came back nicely thanks!
