We cannot recommend this hotel. The first room had a strong odor of dampness, and while the second room was newly decorated, there was mold on the bathroom window that clearly hadn't been addressed for weeks, if not months. Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 2/5.

I have never posted a poor review before but this hotel is under staffed, tired and dirty. The food was awful. I dont blame what staff there were, I blame the owners Marstons. What a beautiful place! We were welcomed by a wonderful gentleman named Derek, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and he did it with such flair. We decided to stay for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious. The fact that it’s dog-friendly is a bonus! I highly recommend this restaurant for its food. Thank you from the Davies Family! We originally booked for 6pm but called in to rearrange for 5pm. No problem. We arrived just before 5. One other couple in front of us. Drinks served with a smile. Food ordered and came quite quickly. Delicious. Steak and cod both cooked very well. We would have had dessert but we were too full. Restaurant was quiet but that’s to be expected around that time. I visited this restaurant with a friend on a weekday evening, and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a lovely twin room at a reasonable price. The building and gardens are beautiful and full of charm, although they are currently undergoing some renovations. The food was delicious and affordable, with several vegan options that my friend appreciated. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful.
