"The nutmeg has long been a staple for vegetarians and vegans in Belfast, carrying established brands such as Suma and Frys. Perfect for keeping your kitchen cupboards and medicine cabinet stocked, they now also serve vegan sandwiches if you're ever stuck for lunch! The chilled cabinets are full of everything imaginable from sosage rolls to peanut butter slices, and if you're lucky they occasionally stock DONUTS. They carry Violife, Follow Your Heart and all those ridiculously expensive vegan chocolate treats you could never bring yourself to buy online but cannot resist in person..."

The write up for the shop suggests that it's only a health food store, but they also have desserts, salads and sammiges. Hell yes. I'm currently fighting with my will-power not to return and buy out all of their homemade vegan chocchip cookies. Holy cow!

This is a good wee shop and has looked after me for many years when vege food and snacks were limited. They are a friendly knowedgeable lot. They stock natural remedies, foods, teas, sweeties, and so on. I tend to get their sausage rolls, pakora and flapjacks.

The Nutmeg's a brilliant shop stocking a huge range of vitamin supplements and food. It's a tiny store packed full of healthy items you won't get from your local supermarket. I particularly like their range of dairy free cheeses, vegetarian/vegan foods and nuts, pulses and seeds. Ver carta

Small Health food store right in the centre of Belfast. Contains a small deli counter, toiletries, Vegan dry canned food, gluten free stuff, snacks, alternative cleaning and laundry products, etc. Really packed in but there is a good selection. The only survivng non Holland Barrett in Belfast I think (these are in Castlecourt Ann street).

I go to Nutmeg every week, if you look long enough, you can find pretty much anything in there, some things are a bit hidden. They have a fridge and freezer which is quite handy as well. I love their vegan pestos, their self-made vegan sausage rolls, the coconut milk yoghurt and the vegan cream cheese. They also have sandwiches and cakes there now, they are awesome!

I love the friendliness of the shop but lunchtime offerings were always delicious but sparse. Not anymore as they now do a really varied selection of sandwiches, baguettes, bagels, gf sandwiches and salads along with the normal sausage rolls and samosas. Try the roasted sprout and falafel (no I'm not joking, it really is a thing) or the scrambled egg' and bacon' baguette- all totally vegan! Ver carta

like a time capsule, it's pretty exactly the same inside as it has since I started to go what needs to be 15 years ago. a jam health food store when they have a bamboo toothbrush, organic wine, eco-show gel, tees every description, dried nuts burst, freeze and oven stuff for vegans or some snacks, they come here. Remember that the youngs of 387 ormeau had a connection? at least, quite handy it is located. does not have the extended area I need, but well in a pinch.

has the best and widest choice of vegan replacement. consists of the most popular vegan cheese, meat, ready-made dishes, chocolate, etc. it does quite everything they would need if vegan / healthy / special dinge, the super markets and even holland and barrett would not do. it is a very small load, so it can be quite difficult to move around and look for things right, especially when busy. it is also quite expensive (depending on what they buy) but most vegan replacement products are.

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
