"Another amazing meal delivered at the King Head. We love coming here as the food and service is always excellent. Despite an early booking the place was busy with a lovely hustle and bustle. Starter of fish cakes were delicious as was my husbands (I can’t remember the name. Came in a puff pastry parcel). However I did remember the roast beef and Yorkshire’s (huge). The carrots were a star unto themselves cooked in star anise which really life a plain carrot into something else. Generous thick cut sirloin of beef and cauliflower cheese. Really lovely service. We were never left thirsty with many a top up. Great friendly service. We will be back. Thank you."

"Cenamos aquí por primera vez hace años y tuvimos un almuerzo memorable. Todo fue perfecto desde el ambiente hasta la comida. Está bien, así que era caro, pero nos hicieron sentir especiales y la comida era maravillosa. Lamentablemente, la mayoría de las cosas han cambiado como descubrimos en esta ocasión. Reservé en línea para el almuerzo en julio para el sábado de septiembre. Se acabó el almuerzo fijo y el servicio eficiente. Nos sentamos junto a un grupo de mujeres y un bebé que estaban siendo atendidos con mucha atención. Después de un retraso considerable llegó mi entrante consistente en paté de caballa ahumada y este vino sin tostadas ni pan. Como plato principal, ambos teníamos halibut y esto se sirvió con un intento de una parte superior crujiente que no funcionó. Cocinar la corteza correctamente habría cocido demasiado el pescado, por lo que el compromiso fue una corteza a medio cocer. El acompañamiento de patatas era minúsculo, pero no había guarniciones de patatas disponibles, así que tuvimos que pedir patatas fritas que no eran adecuadas. Una de las cosas que no ha cambiado es el precio. Estas ofertas no eran baratas. Nuestra conclusión fue que los nuevos propietarios están cobrando precios de alta cocina por una experiencia de almuerzo en el bar."

"We stayed 4 nights and ate at the restaurant each night. Excellent rump steak, so tender, cooked to perfection. Fresh vegetables and delicious deserts. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend for dinner. Rooms pleasant, bit small for twin beds, but that’s the UK in general if you stay at Inns which are 450 years old!"

"Had planned dinner at The Fox Inn to celebrate my birthday on the evening of Saturday 23rd September whilst staying locally. I had called the restaurant 2 weeks prior to book a table and was advised that they only release a small number of tables for advance booking with the majority available on a walk in basis. I was advised that the dinner service started from 6:30pm and therefore stood the best chance of getting a table if we arrived for then on the day itself. We therefore arrived in good time, walked through the door at 6:31pm to be precise, to be met by an abrupt Italian member of staff who didn 't really even greet us upon arrival. I advised we didn 't have a booking but were hoping for a table for 4 guests. I also explained what I had been told when I called a few weeks prior i.e. that if we arrived early that getting a table shouldn 't be an issue. I was abruptly told that there was no tables available and when challenged on what I had been informed the member of staff proceeded to turn his iPad around and kept pointing at it like I am meant to know what the hell he 's pointing at! Quite frankly a disgusting experience and very disappointing. He made no attempt to accommodate us. The restaurant may I add was empty despite being 'fully booked ' at the point of opening. I can 't help but think the member of staff simply didn 't want us to dine with them for whatever reason....ultimately their loss. We also fed back to our AirB&B host who is fairly influential in the local area, so she can forewarn other potential diners. A birthday meal ruined by this restaurant for no obvious reason. How can you be fully booked for 'walk ins ' that aren 't bookable in advance at the start of your dinner service? Stupid policy if that 's the case as it clearly doesn 't work."

"I made a reservation for the evening and decided to dine out instead of cooking. It wasn't necessary to reserve a table as there was only one other table occupied, so the ambiance wasn't great. Despite there being only two tables, I expected the server to remember our starters, but unfortunately, he forgot. He apologized when bringing them out with the main course, but it was still disappointing. The food was good, but there are more appealing restaurants nearby, so I wasn't in a rush to return. I would recommend this place more for lunch. Overall, it had a slightly melancholic atmosphere as if it wasn't clear why it was open for dinner service."
