"I decided to give this restaurant a try, so I called to check if they were open and to get a glimpse of the menu. I was informed that they were indeed open and offered items like gammon and steak pie, so we made the trip from Hartlepool. However, upon our arrival and after sitting down, we were told that both the gammon and steak pie were no longer available. The menu was already quite limited, so we opted for sirloin steaks, which unfortunately had a lot of fat and gristle. The gammon steak, advertised as 6 oz, seemed like a poor value. To make matters worse, none of the staff acknowledged us or made an effort to welcome us. As a result, we’ve decided that we won’t be returning in the future."

Fantastic food. Ate of the set menu 3 courses for £15.00 can't get better than that. Presentation on all 3 courses was outstanding.

Wow, just wow! This was my first time here, and I will definitely be coming back. The food was fantastic—I had a three-course meal for just £20. The service was the best I've ever experienced! Ver carta

The change in ownership last year has been impressive, with fantastic food that surpasses any other in the area. It's definitely worth a visit! The atmosphere is very friendly, and the cooking is excellent and beautifully presented. - JP

The King's Arms has a very, very wide menu, largely painted on boards around the restaurant. For those without hawk eyes this can get a little embarrassing leaning over other diners to find out what your dinner could be. The decor is dated but pub standard. You can usually get a 2 for 1 voucher from the back of a till receipt from Darlington's Morrisons, which makes it a cheap n chearful weeknight out. Ver carta

There is a solid selection of vegetarian options available, and they offer a 2-for-1 deal on many main dishes during certain hours, although you have to provide a receipt from your last visit when you paid full price, which can be a bit cumbersome. They typically have a couple of real ales on tap, much to my father-in-law's delight when we took him there. The desserts are particularly delicious, and I highly recommend trying them. Additionally, the pub hosts various quiz nights. While it may be a bit off the beaten path, I definitely recommend visiting the King's Arms; it's well worth the trip. The menu was different from what was shown on Facebook, and several items were unavailable due to a delivery issue. I almost left after getting our drinks because of this, but the friendly manager explained that the menu changes weekly and assured us that the food would be exceptional, no matter what we chose. I appreciated her attitude and the service, so we decided to stay and order. She was right! The food was not only fantastic, but the service remained excellent throughout our meal. There was a slight wait, even though the restaurant was quiet, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

"Visited this weekend for a family celebration and had an unremarkable experience. Decor of establishment was rather nice. Admittedly, we were a large booking of 17 individuals and this can be challenging to manage and organise for such a small establishment. The mature gentleman was rather rude to our host whom asked for an additional chair for the party as we were one short despite finalising numbers as agreed earlier in the afternoon. This is no way an appropriate manner to treat guests and clearly set a bad example for his staff as well as the wrong tone for the evening ahead. Guests were not even properly seated before being hounded for their drinks order despite not being given a drinks menu. Upon asking about cocktails to the waitress whom was pleasant she was unable to give the full selection just the three she knew of the top of her head that were the standard run of the mill selection. To give full credit to her fo honest regarding the diaquiries before we ordered them in. The cocktails (passion fruit martini and cosmopolitan's) ordered were disappointing as they tasted watered down and lacked a bang. Don't understand why one of the passion fruit martinis was brought out in a drinks glass which was rather random. Drinks orders were taken on an ad hoc basis with the waiting staff not taking a full tables order walking away as people attempted to give their drinks order, unintentional maybe? We were rushed to give our starters/mains orders all of which came promptly and all guests received the correct order. The waiting staff shouted out food orders from the top of the table to identify who's order was who's. The pasta based dishes were pleasantly enjoyed yet the pizzas and parmesans proved to be somewhat vanilla. Not all guests had properly finished eating their meals before the gentlemen asked if he could remove plates before receiving an answer from the full table resulting in some guests to not finish their meals. We were not offered a deserts menu once they removed dishes from the table. We had second hand embarrassment for an additional family party whom were having a celebration meal at the restaurant. The party had started to get settled at the table putting out their balloons etc when the mature gent stormed over barking at them to move as he shoved table and chairs across the restaurant. This clearly made them feel uncomfortable as was noticed and commented by the service users of the restaurant. The waiting staff plonked the celebration cakes on the table one of which didn't even go to the correct individual. NO SPECIAL MEMORY OR MAGICAL MOMENT TO BE HAD FOR A 18TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. It would have been nice if they had asked before bringing it out as some of our party partially missed out on the occasion. The bill was given to the wrong individual instead of the host which allowed for everyone to see the bill when this was an private affair. To be perfectly honest we visited a few months earlier and had a disappointing experience but with better service. Linthorpe Road is bursting with alternative, superior, independent eateries that I would highly recommend instead."
