"the café leaf bean is part of the moorey’s health stores, in the first floor above the shop and only recently after closing reopened. the shop has a large selection of vegan products for everyone, along with a refill station for items such as washing liquid, handset, toilet cleaner, etc., chilled and frozen products. the cafe menu is reduced, which is understandable due to covid, but there was much to choose. we ordered a topf earl grey tee with milk, a red paprika humous jacket kartoffel with broccoli, cauliflower, leek and boiled salad with garlic dressing for me and mushroom pate served with gurkensandwich with three of the daily salads for naves. the jacket kartoffel was huge with a lot of pretty and the salat was so skrumbling I will steal the recipe ideas, which is a good opportunity to get their raw vegetables. hubby enjoyed being lunch and having a big cup tee is a winner, nothing worse than just serving a cup. I love leaf and bean caffe, the personal was brilliant, so friendly and helpful and we felt completely safe during our lunch visit and we will definitely see again when next in skipton. updated from previous review on 2016-06-20"

We came here because the vegan menu has disappeared from The Castle Inn. Vegan falafel burger was very nice and the salads were tasty, portions are huge! The food and service were good, but the facilities were poor.

really surprised how much taste they pack in their eating was not expected. not that convenient for a caffe and the menu was obviously a bit limited as they are everywhere due to the pandemic at the moment. a little nightmare when there is a crying baby. but they say that there is an appreciation. brilliant and friendly service. we had the hummus and falafel salat pitta, trio salat, vegan cheese and pickel sandwich and a suppe of the day all tasted beautiful. good price recommended.

this is easy to miss, as it is above the health food shop that they go through to get to the caffe. it is fully vegetarian with a large selection of vegan food. sandwiches, coat potatoes and suppe. they also have a daily special board and we ordered a delicious sausage-casrol that came with large pieces of sewn bread. it is very cheap with good portion size, and the staff is very friendly. will definitely be back to visit. the health food shop is also worth a visit with a good selection of vegan foods and some beautiful soaps.

Small cafe with just 10 tables, above their shop, and situated at the top end of the main street, overlooking the grounds of the castle. We went on a day when their oven had broken (or maybe it was the gas supply itself) so there were fewer options available than usual. Nevertheless the food we had was excellent. We had two different types of sandwiches, the mushroom pate and the hummus pepper. Both were tasty, with good portion sizes and served with a couple of delicious side salads. I will say also that their cake a Black Forest Chocolate Tart- was hands down one of the best cakes I've eaten in ages!

Now trading above the renamed health food shop Moorey's, but very similar just with better facilities and they now accept cards payments. Friendly welcoming staff and delicious mostly vegan food. They are changing the specials menu a little too by doing mostly substantial lunch dishes such as curry etc, plus soup of the day, and vegan cakes. The table menu has a good sandwich and soup offer which is a main meal in itself and baked potatoes, etc. My sweet potato and tofu burger was excellent though and the three salads were scrumptious (riced cauliflower, red cabbage, beetroot and kidney beans, and green salad). They seem to do evening meals from time too which I must try.

"Thai Basil is the best restaurant in Skipton, which we have frequented regularly since it first opened in 2011. We have always been made to feel very welcome by the Thai family who run the restaurant. The food has always been excellent and the staff attentive and caring, we felt looked after , more often than not being treated to a free dessert, by lovely Pat and her husband. Last year, Pat and her husband moved to the Kings at Clitheroe, and friends of theirs took over the running of Thai Basil in Skipton. I have submitted previous excellent 5 star reviews of Thai Basil, on this occasion I have given the restaurant 3 stars for one reason only, being told we had to vacate our table in 5/10 minutes, immediately after our plates had been cleared. I had booked our table (for 6 for a birthday celebration) three weeks in advance, for 6.30pm Saturday. At the time of booking there were two other bookings, one for 6.00 and one for either 7 or 7.30. I made the booking in person, when dining there one lunchtime. At no time was I told there would be a time limit on our stay, not when booking, not on arrival, or by telephone before arriving. We arrived on time at 6.30. our starters arrived about 7.00, and our mains probably towards 7.30. At 8.05, when still finishing our drinks, the young waitress came to our table and said we would need to leave in 5/10 minutes. 90 minutes is not very long for a party of 6 to have a celebratory meal. I complained and was told by the young server that she did not want to tell us to leave but had been told by the more senior server that she had to. I then spoke to the more regular server and complained , he did not apologise or explain. I told him (with whom I had made the booking in person) we would leave when we were ready, as at no point had we been told our booking was time limited. It was clear that they had overbooked, to accommodate a party of 16. Our table must have been booked out again at 8pm for diners who were waiting in the entrance hall. I was very disappointed by our experience. and was tempted to remove the optional service charge which is now automatically added to your billI but didn 't as the food and service had been good. I know this would not have happened if Pat and her husband were still in charge. It spoiled what should have been an excellent night out."

"What a wonderful discovery! While on our canal holiday, we docked at Low Bradley on a sunny Sunday afternoon and ventured into Bradley in search of a pub. We were thrilled to come across the Slaters, with its amazing patio perfect for a sunny day and possibly the best view I've ever seen from a pub patio. Dogs were welcome to sit outside, with plenty of water bowls provided for them. It felt a bit like a dog show, especially when we joined the crowd with our two Newfoundlands! After enjoying a couple of drinks, we took our dogs back to the boat and returned to the Slaters for dinner. We were lucky to snag a table as they were fully booked, a testament to the quality of the food. The menu offered something for everyone, from fresh fish to steaks, great vegetarian options, and Sunday roasts on the specials board. My spinach ricotta lasagne was delicious, and my partner's fish and chips disappeared in no time. The portions were generous, so we had to skip dessert, although we did indulge in a delicious garlic bread starter. I couldn't help but notice a person at the next table enjoying the homemade New York cheesecake, which looked amazing and came in a huge portion. It's funny how some really slim people can eat so much! Overall, the Slaters Arms is a fantastic pub with delicious food. I have to give a special shoutout to the landlord and landlady, who despite being busy, were friendly and welcoming, taking the time to chat with everyone. It was a refreshing change. The Slaters Arms has my vote, and we will definitely return, even though it's not particularly close to home."
