"After reading so many positive reviews, we thought we would visit. Went for a family lunch, upon entering there were a few people at table but definitely not busy. Shown to our table and drinks order taken straight away. Came for our food order about 15 minutes later. Food came out reasonable quick, all looking good. Part way through eating one of the meals a long blonde hair was found within the food (wasn't one of ours, we all have dark brown hair). Immediately put off and disappointed. Went to find a staff member, said excuse me to one walking past (ignored). Another approach and I quietly mentioned we had found a blonde hair. When we got back to the table, a second hair was discovered laying on top of a side of fries. The staff member said ah, oh. Took the plate away and asked if we wanted anything else in place of it. No thanks! This put us off the rest of our meals, they remained uneaten. Went to pay, they had deducted the one meal from the bill. Would I visit again? For a drink, yes, but not for food."

Excellent customer service, staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was amazing, the fish chips and mixed grill were out of this world. Never seen a fish so big!!! Would highly recommend.

Stayed down the road at the Bardsea leisure campsite and took the short stroll down. Excellent service. Excellent value. Excellent meal. Wine reasonably priced. Kids portions outstanding. Highly Recommended!

We celebrated our dad’s 80th birthday here yesterday, in the function room. We had a fabulous time. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A perfect party. Would highly recommend…we’ll be back.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and managed to get table 21, in the bay window. Gammon and chips with Pepper Corn sauce, what a delight, the chips are as good as ever. My friend ordered the same and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal, hope to go again soon. Sam B.

Came here for mine and my friends meal for our birthdays herd the bar manager and staff talking about us at the bar saying we need to hurry up our food even though they made us wait 30 minutes to place our order. Wont be coming again worst experience in a restaurant Iv ever had do not recommend!!

Delicious home cooked food a tad pricey. I was surprised to see the place so quiet but I suppose it is out of town, the only bad quality really it needed a bit more of an atmosphere. The staff were polite, attentive and really friendly. We were here for a weeks holiday and visited twice it was so nice.

Staff were good. My wife enjoyed the meatballs. However I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and it was awful. Chips are not good. Warm at best. Coating on the chicken was burnt. It was soggy so couldn’t pick it up. No side salad or anything. We ordered a side of onion rings and ate about 3 of them between us. They were overdone and tasted of feet. It was the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. Did not mention any of this to staff as no one came to ask us how everything was. It’s a shame because it is in a good area. We won’t be going back.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
