"Yesterday, my family and I visited The Old Friar for Sunday dinner to celebrate Mother's and Father's Day. When we arrived, the young host who greeted us seemed unaware of our reservation for 7. We were seated next to a window covered with numerous flies, which made us uncomfortable. Despite politely asking to be moved, we were told there was nothing they could do about the flies. Our food took three attempts to get right, and my son's burger arrived without the cheese and speck we had ordered. When we mentioned this to the waiter, a red-haired lady came over and accused us of lying. This confrontation was embarrassing and upsetting, especially for my son. The service was incredibly poor, and we felt humiliated throughout our meal. We will not be returning to The Old Friar, as our experience was marred by rude and insulting service. The only positive aspect was that the food was decent, though overpriced. I urge others to avoid this restaurant due to the terrible service and lack of professionalism."

The restaurant has a lovely setting, the food is top-notch, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. It's also a great value for the quality of the dining experience. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for those with dogs as it is pet-friendly.

very good Sunday dinner in the old friar. 4 adult and two small children, all meals were good and served immediately. they were happy to do menu variations for a few people, and everything was hot and delicious. our table was great and the atmosphere is good for us. the youngs used the garden playground a few times, and enjoyed it, although a bit from the season on the 1st januar! we have eaten here as a couple and have always enjoyed our visit.
