I had a pleasant Sunday lunch, but the gravy was too thin. I will try the weekly lunch or evening meal next time.

The service was exceptional, the staff couldn't do enough for us! Food was fresh and tasted gorgeous. Compliments to the new chef! Covid safe too. We wil definately come back again. Well done guys

The Sunday lunch at this restaurant was outstanding. We arrived without a reservation, but the staff were very helpful and managed to squeeze us in. We were served a delicious meal, including a vegetarian option. Ver carta

Call in for a drink but stayed to have a basket meal which was very nice, pipping hot and delicious too, good value along with good selection of ales, friendly staff and good service. Do yourself a favour and pop in you won't be disappointed

We have been to the ship many times in the past and have always had a good meal. Thought that we would go again and decided to book a table to make sure we could get in. The landlord couldn’t book us in for lunch as he hadn’t got a chef at the moment. We will still go back for a meal if they resume service. Just make sure before you go

We’ve been to the ship several times recently and all times was the service exemplary, the food was good and Covid measures excellent! We were reminded of test trace, you can clearly see the scan posters. Clear markings on one way systems, it was table service only. Our waitress was wearing a visor type thing at all times. The menus were either throwaway or wipeable. You couldn’t fault the measures being taken whatsoever! The service was absolutely excellent. We’ll definitely be going back! Ver carta

The new management has restored the Ship to its former high standards of good food, a well-kept cellar of beer, and good service. Prior to their takeover, the Ship was disappointing during the pandemic. I highly recommend giving it a try if you haven't visited since the new management took over. The menu may be small, but the dishes are excellently prepared and presented. In the evenings, only basket meals are available, but they are of a high standard. I've heard from friends that the Sunday lunches are also excellent.

Had scampi and chips-some chips had an off taste. Maybe cooking oil needed changing. When I commented the server told the chef who offered to make another portion but I'd eaten the rest of the meal which wasn't great. I had to eat something as I had already done an insulin injection! Our details weren't recorded and I forgot to ask about this. Must check whether or not this is now mandatory for tracing. Server wore mask under nose and got really near when taking payment which made me feel uncomfortable due to my age and medical condition. Wearing a mask under your nose is like wearing underpants under one's appendage (if you're a bloke.... Friendly service. Took two Rennies when I got home.

Went with my girlfriend last night for dinner, We were one of the very few in there. We ordered the Brie to share as a starter whilst we waited for our main course. 4 pieces of breadcrumbed Brie that had been frozen, were placed on a plate with a poor attempt at a salad. Very basic. The Lamb Shank was extremely small and the 3 pieces of Broccoli, didnt in my eyes constitute ‘veg’. The steak was meant to br medium rear but we well done. We raised our concerns with both the waiter and the chef came out too. Nothing we said was taken on board, we we simply wrong! We were told to pay full price, which to keep the peace we did.
