"It’s hard to tell if The Patch Lewes is more cafe or tap-room. There's a huge refrigerator full of sandwiches to your right as you walk in and the air smells of frying food, so that’s ticked the cafe vibes. The the walls, however, are decorated with thousands of beer tap POS clip art, which collectively tell a colourful tale of the myriad of wonderful liquids from far and wide that have graced the taps here. The Patch Lewes is a humble yet valuable member of Lewes’ cafe and nighttime landscape. In truth the space could be a bit more comfortable for when you want to hunker down for a beery session. But in central Lewes, you just cannot beat The Patch for modern beer variety."

"Sadly this was a disappointment, having arrived slightly early for a table than booked, we were shown to a table in the back corridor with poor lighting and no atmosphere despite the restaurant having plenty of good space left. We were not given the a la carte menu which we wanted and received zero service after 10 minutes so we got up and left."

"I visited Lewes over the weekend and had my first lunch at this quaint pub. The cozy downstairs areas were all full, but luckily we were able to get a table in the upstairs dining room. We opted for a light lunch - I had a delicious toasted cheese chutney ciabatta, while my partner enjoyed the steak sandwich. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The family at the table next to us all ordered burgers, which made me instantly envious - they were loaded with a whole gherkin and onion rings on top. We attempted to have Sunday lunch at the pub, but it was fully booked, so the waitress suggested we try the Swan Inn instead. Check out my other review for more details."

"we were stable of 4 for lunch and it was lovely. Quite a simple menu with all the old Pub lunch favourites; Having noticed some delicious plates coming from the kitchen with very generous portions, we opted for the Soup and Sub menu which comprised of homemade Soup of the day (broccoli and stilton) and a sub roll . The choice of subs was excellent with 2 or 3 vegetarian options as well as about 6 or 7 mainstream choices, The birthday girl chose Fish gluons with tartare sauce and lettuce, the rest of us could not resist the Buffalo chicken tenders with shredded lettuce and blue cheese dressing. All of us were impressed with the size of the subs which were crammed full of the fillings. The soup was fabulous delicately flavoured with stilton and fresh with broccoli. No room for dessert, in fact 2 of us were offered doggy-bags to take home the half of the sub we couldn 't finish. Reasonably priced ales from local Brewers."

"The building is cosy and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and efficient, but the food. Oh dear! I hope the chef was having a day off before Christmas and it was not the normal standard. I had the liver and the other meal was the Sussex Smokie. The liver was a big lump of undercooked pig’s liver with lumpy mashed potatoes. It was not pleasant The Smokie consisted of 3 fingers of fish in a watery sauce. It was not pleasant. This used to be a favourite pub of mine, but I will wait before I try it again"
