"Travelled from Swansea to meet friends for a catch up. We had seen previous reviews and we thought it would be a good venue to try. It's an old pub /restaurant with a lot of character but that's about the best thing I can say about it. I had a 56 day matured rump steak and pink peppercorn sauce. The steak was chewy with not a lot of flavour and the peppercorn sauce was a bit salty with no peppercorns in it and not peppery, the chips were the best part of the meal. There was also a truffle flavoured bearnaise sauce but it smelt and tasted chemically. My wife and one other had the gin battered salmon, both were overcooked and dry. Our other friend had the hake with a cassoulet and squid which tasted OK but the portion of hake was small. The food was eaten simply because we were all hungry. When asked at the end if the food was good we said it wasn't and said what was wrong but nobody came back to apologise. We will certainly not be coming back and would not recommend it to anybody else."

Visited the restaurant for the first time last night, nice food but very over priced for measly potions, I won’t rush back.

Wanted to try this place for ages. Was not disapointed. Selection was small but good (quality over quantity). Servings were good size. Ambience fab. Throughly recomend this place. Ver carta

....under new management and chef, Johnathan Rees, has made the newly named Black Rabbit, his own. Tasty food...an innovative menu...and excellent service. This small team are on the ball. Highly recommend.

Visited this restaurant this evening with the wife and had an outstanding meal. We both thoroughly enjoyed. It's a lovely cosy little place with a warm feel to it an will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend this place.

We had a lovely meal here last night. First point beware if you have heels as I nearly slipped on the floor it’s polished to perfection. Waitress was lovely very friendly and tried to make conversation. We were not rushed with our ordering and Prosecco... Ver carta

This was about the 6th or 7th time we’ve eaten here. Since Jonathan took over, first the menu and now the whole place, transforming it to The Black Rabbit, it has been reliably excellent for dinner of an evening. They seem to use local produce, all tasty. Plus, the staff are all friendly and attentive. The menu is less fussy than Tommy Heaney and the place is both way less up itself while still being a quality night out. I really wish Jonathan all the best with the place and really believe he it his team and their offering have what it takes to succeed.

We met with friends here and as it was my suggestion after reading various reviews I am really disappointed. Our food was mediocre at best and extremely overpriced. Two of us ordered the gin battered salmon and it 's not an exaggeration to say our salmon was a 2inch square almost like a normal size fillet of salmon had been cut into 3 portions, it was also over cooked. As we 'd waited for some time for our food we ate and chatted but when the waitress came to clear the plate and uttered the words Was everything ok with your food I told her the plates were clean because we were very hungry and the portions were ridiculously small plus the salmon had been overcooked, she said she would pass th...

"So came here last night 13th oct. 9 of us 2 of which 2 young kids. Had starter , calamari this was ok, sauce was nice. Main was lovely which was lasagne really quite tasty it came with chips which were nothing special if im honest, i ordered a side of garlic bread with it which was nice, The host was a nice guy very chatty, the staff seemed a little clumsy if im honest, just as we sat down a tray of drinks went down the back of my sister because the waitress wasn't looking what she was doing although accidents do happen so no biggy, although I will say nothing was offered! No extra drinks, a free starter, nothing!!! This brings me on to the cost. Not much beer choice at all, consisting of draught peroni which was are you sitting down) £6.50 a pint! So I ordered a bottle of bishops finger which i thought was a 500ml bottle, it didn't say on the menu the size of the drink which i think it should have, Well the bottle came and it was a 330ml bottle!! £4.70 for a 330ml bottle!!! im sorry but thats to much, come on guys. We all had a starter and a main with dessert each, i had the newyork cheesecake, which was ok but tasted abit like something frozen, didn't seem home made to me anyway. The Total bill came to just over £400!!! £60 of which was a service charge i was told by someone on the table, but the owner has now said that there was no service charge so if this is the case then i apologise), we were a decent size group but you know when you've gone somewhere and feel that the cost is just too much. Nice restaurant but too expensive imo."
