Excellent Sunday lunch very pleasant staff nice atmosphere. Have also celebrated a family birthday here.

New landlord and landlady after a Shepherd Neame refit in 07/08 got rid of the students causing chaos and made it nice again inside.

Thankyou very much for a great meal on Sunday. We were a large group celebrating 2 family birthdays and we felt well looked after by the staff at the pub. The childrens play area outside was a huge bonus as the little ones were able to run about together while we relaxed. The food was all well timed, tasty and fresh. We will be back! Ver carta

1. Difficult a situation though this is it would be beneficial for staff to have a quiet, polite word with the 'guardians ' of young children perpetually coming in and out of the restaurant via an outside door on a cold night necessitating a group of young adults needing to be moved away from that door. 2. For us the only downside to an excellent meal was that the manager, Steve, a university friend of our younger son, was not on duty!

Went for a sunday lunch on a very cold day . The staff were lovely and the food was delicious it was just unfortunate that we were sat right by the back door which was opened every two minutes by people coming in and out . It was freezing and it would have been nice if the wood burner next to us had been lit . When i book again will def ask for a different seating. Otherwise the roast was really delicious and the staff were really nice and attentive considering how busy they were

When the Plough was opened after its refurbishment, it was wonderful. The food great; the atmosphere great. It had that cosy, special feel about it. Now, although it still has that lovely feel about it, I have found that the atmosphere has got less intimate. I understand that it is very difficult to keep noise levels down, and some people have naturally loud laughs, but it can be off-putting. The food choices have become quite staid and not very exciting. We have found that the steaks have been tough and chewy. It is a great shame because it is local to us and we really like the place. Completely changed from what it used to be, food incredibly over priced and rubbish servings. Was made clear there was one chicken roast left and when it came to ordering it was still free so I asked for it then half a hour later a waiter came over and said sorry but just as you were looking at the avalibility someone else was too so your have to have somthing else. If I knew this earlier I would have left the restraunt as I'm a fussy eater. It took so long for a waiter/waitress to come over and we spent over a hour waiting for out bill! we were cordially invited to get a drink at the bar, because the table was not quite ready, we did this, I felt that the price of a coke for my daughter was very expensive. we waited about 5 minutes, then I asked if our table was ready as it was our time we had booked,After another 5 minutes it was ready. our commands were taken after a short wait and the food arrived immediately. all meal times were right and well presented, I had to ask for a jugof gravy how I had a fry dinner with only one gland gravy on my flesh. While the food is good the service is very poor. We arrived for our reservation to be told our table was not ready. No problem, we waited in the bar for 25 minutes and then went back to find they’d forgotten about us and had no table for us. They eventually found us a table, but it wasn’t laid up fully and they didn’t sort it out. We then waited another 15 minutes before we gave up and went to the bar to get someone to take our food order. After our food arrived we again waited for a very long time and eventually had to call someone over to order the children’s ice creams. They then came out with the wrong flavours.
