"Came in here with family the night before my wedding. Never felt so unwelcome and a burden! Promptly left when the owner was very rude to my sister when trying to order food. The owner complained that we didn 't book beforehand which as far I 'm concerned was impossible.I tried ringing the week before and the day before I unfortunately entered this establishment to book a table, however there was no reply or they were shut. The pub was empty when we arrived (on a Friday evening) with as much atmosphere as a hospital morgue...... I did look at (negative) reviews for this so called pub but I thought you know what I want to support a local business so I 'll give them the benefit of the doubt! How wrong I was!!! . Do not visit the plough!"

My wife and I had the pleasure of going to the Plough for Friday fish and for Sunday lunch. The food is absolutely lovely, the Sunday lunch is one of the best We’ve ever had. Chris and Rosemary are fabulous hosts. They made our weekend away very special.

Rosemary and Chris who run The Plough Inn are excellent hosts. They looked after us superbly and provided a sumptuous Sunday lunch. It was hand cooked from fresh ingredients, with all the trimmings. The pub is full of quirky nicnacs and interesting artefacts to make it well worth a visit for a friendly drink. Thank you for making our day. Ver carta

We called in to this lovely, homely pub for lunch, not having any idea what to expect. The owners were welcoming and friendly. We each ordered a Sunday roast and were told everything was cooked fresh. This was so very true such delicious food; so many different tastes and unique blends, including spicy red cabbage which had apple as an interesting, tasty addition. The gravy was simply some of the best I have ever tasted. Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be back recommending a visit to friends and family.

We came to the area for the weekend, our 1st night we just wanted a quiet drink and something good to eat, the plough was the nearest inn, it was quiet in there but the owners were very hospitable, we ordered the fish and chips and it is all cooked fresh, nothing out of a packet, and I must say it was absolutely lovely, the best we have ever tasted, it was presented lovely , the fish batter is Devine lovely and light and crisp, the fish lovely and flaky, the peas done with fresh mint, tartar sauce , lemon, coleslaw, and lovely seasoned home cooked chips, yum yum every mouthful.the owners were friendly and Very kind people. Would definitely go again to try other delights on offer.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
