"Visited on a beautiful sunny Sunday for drinks. The pub is very quaint and food is good (from previous experience) but that is where the positivity ends. We were told on ordering our drinks at 3:35 that this was last orders and they closed at 4 despite all online literature saying 5pm. Not too much of an issue in insolation really these things happen. My husband returned to the bar for crisps to overhear the land lady complaining that she couldn 't get closed up to enjoy the sunshine as people kept coming to the bar. We all have a moan now and again about work but maybe this should be done in private rather than in front of the customers who are here to support your business? Then it went downhill. Whilst there I potentially lost an important item but didn 't realise until the next day. So on Tuesday when passing I popped in to see if it had been handed in as this was the last time I knew I had it. The pub looked open from the front all signs out and the beer garden door was unlocked. On opening it was dark inside so I just popped my head round the door and called out 'Hello '. After another 'hello ' the landlady stuck her head around a corner and my interaction went as follows: Me: Hi I 'm so sorry to interrupt but I was here Sund.... Her: We are closed (very abrupt and rude) Me: Oh I 'm sorry the door was unlocked can I just ask if.... Her: NO we are closed you have to leave. I am just a chef here I don 't know anything. Leave now. Me: Umm ok I just Her: GO AWAY Me: OK, do you have a number I can call about lost property, its just it is a very important key Her: Find it online now you need to leave. Get off the property!! Me: There is absolutely no need to be so rude, don 't worry I will take my business elsewhere I am still pretty shocked at being spoken too with such unprovoked rudeness. I did not just barge into the pub I popped my head round the door to ask a question. I apologized as I hadn 't quite realized they were closed as you can 't really see in through the door. Also to barefaced lie and tell me she was just a chef? Having been a few times I very well know she is the land lady. It 's ok if you can 't help me but just be polite or at the very least civil. Absolutely disgusted and certainly will not be back. So disappointing as the pub used to be so welcoming a few years ago, we used to go a lot. Local businesses need all the support they can get right now so why on earth would you treat people like this?"

I visited as a group of four and loved it. Nice big table, good food, fantastic service, and all inside a lovely old building. I wasn't sure what to expect but would visit again if in the area

The restaurant was not impressive. The food was of low quality and not worth the price. The cost per person was £30–40. The food was rated a 1 out of 5, while the service and atmosphere scored a 3 out of 5. Ver carta

We popped in here for lunch in early August and the food was great and service excellent, so when back in the area a few weeks later we came for an evening meal with family, and were not disappointed. Well recommended.

We called last minute to make a reservation for a family of four after being let down by another restaurant. The staff happily accommodated us, fitting us in about 20 minutes later. The restaurant was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. Our food arrived promptly and was all hot, fresh, and delicious. The standout dish for us was the sticky toffee pudding, which was amazing. Thank you for a great evening. The average cost per person was between £30-40. Ver carta

This restaurant had the potential to receive five stars, as the food was very good. However, despite the polite service from the staff, we were disappointed to learn that we could not order mash with a pie instead of chips, and were not allowed extra gravy. The explanation was that they prepare exact portions for each meal choice, and therefore cannot deviate from that. This policy was unexpected and disappointing, as we believe that guests should be able to choose what they want to eat and not be limited by the restaurant's decisions. It was a shame to see such good food let down by this lack of flexibility.

We have been coming here once a month for just over a year as a girls get together catch up. We are aware of the early closing of 10pm. Food was excellent as usual. But the issue we had was being constantly chased by staff, on this occasion, one of our party was a little late for our booked time of 7.30pm. Staff came over and said we needed to order soon as kitchen was closing this was 7.40. At 9.10 staff came and asked us to pay as till was closing. At 9.30pm we were basically told to leave as they were closing. We were outside in the car park at 9.40pm when all the staff left, the doors were locked and the car park lights turned off, leaving us in total darkness. On getting home I checked...

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
