"We went over on bank holiday Mon late afternoon to have dinner. we never booked but we were lucky to get a table for 2 They were very busy. We ordered our meal’s and when it came out my meal was a vegetarian instead of chicken, I told the waitress and she couldn’t be more sorry she held her hands up and said it was her fault, I was so impressed she made me feel much better as I felt bad as they were so busy, I had a little wait for them to bring me another meal. The landlady was lovely too and gave us a some money off are final bill which we never expected . On the next table to us was a table of six older people, I couldn’t believe there was a woman complaining that the waitress never poured her wine out for her ! What is wrong with some people this was a young girl at the beginning of her working career in a very busy pub doing her best, Was it really too hard for this woman to pour her own wine ?? I want to Thank the staff and waitresses for a lovely meal and very good customer service. Food was lovely too."

Food excellent. Had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive but to be expected on Easter Sunday. The walk afterwards was welcomed too. Easy access from the pub across to the Church grounds and into vast network of fields. A nice day

Lovely old English pub. A lot of family history in the area, so always nice to get back and have a good feed. Service is even better than the last visit and the menu too. The staff couldn't do enough to help and were all courteous, patient and polite. Look forward to returning next time.

Walking the South Downs we stopped for lunch at this picturesque old pub ... More of a restaurant really but had a small cozy bar amidst several large but pleasant dining rooms. Three ales on tap and the two sampled were excellently conditioned and served by friendly staff. A varied menu offered lots of choice and food was good. Service a little on the slow side but we weren't in a hurry. Friendly locals. Worth another visit

here for Sunday dinner after an 8-mile spa along the South Downs! absolutely **** amazing! I have no idea what they did with the oil and balsamic vinegar with the foccacia, but it was the best I ever had. then we had a bark roast and a chicken roast and everything was cooked to perfection, it was so delicious! the chocolate brew was devine! somehow everything I ate was beautiful! the personal was friendly and welcoming. I will be back in any case!

We went there for lunch because they allowed our dog in the bar area. Menu was very pubby and nothing special but the specials were an interesting read. Starters (chicken wings and prawn cocktail) were very ordinary so 4/10 but the specials main courses were very disappointing. Cottage pie at £21+ was 2/3 mash and very little meat, the scampi was dry, thick coating/small meat and the chips were tasteless so 3/10. Will not return. Bar seemed disorganised.

We were camping with some friends in the South Downs area and booked this pub for lunch, we arrived wet and muddy from our 2 hour walk and Butser Ancient Farm tour but the staff were kind and accommodating. After our delicious lunch and drinks we asked if there was space for us in the bar area and they kindly moved us over and it was lovley, there was a warm fire and the staff catered to our every whim. After a while we moved out doors as the table was booked by other patrons, we ordered more food and drinks and it was all delicious and fresh. Safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend.

always a warm welcome here in red lions in chalton deep in the hampshire landscape. the restaurant offers a stunning, uninterupted view that looks beyond the nearby valley in the twee becauseer of chalton. with a spacious, well-designed parking space and easy access is a beer garden on 2 floors with a well-designed bar and restaurant and cute little sleepers designed for every taste. the menu is varied, good value and the service of the staff accompanies it with its excellent content and quality of the meals. Add a well-stocked bar of real ales and fine wine, and they have the perfect location to enjoy one of their lush traditional roasts on a Sunday dinner or while they care the world in th...
