"Found this on Tripadvisor, and also a 5 minute walk from the Premier Inn where we were staying. Initial impressions might be off putting as the main restaurant is upstairs and just a small bar area is visible from the street. Stick with it, the welcome is warm, and the food and service are outstanding. As advertised, this is very authentic, run by Italians, in case of the server owner? from Calabria. We had three courses, meat and cheese etc sharing platter, then venison ragu and fresh pappardelle pasta, then desserts. Homemade and very delicious food. All this plus a bottle of Montepulchiano and one grappa for a very reasonable price £93 for two . It was a wet Tuesday evening but the place still had plenty of customers. Very happy with this find and would definitely go back."

"My wife and I have been going to Posillipo in Canterbury for the past seven years, and in that time no other establishment has been able to usurp its preeminence as our favourite restaurant in the city. Any reviewers who complain about the quality of the food (especially the pizzas and the homemade pasta dishes) are most likely not accustomed to authentic Italian cuisine. As a man of Italian descent (and with the whole-hearted agreement with my genuine Italian friends in Canterbury), I maintain that Posillipo offers the best, most authentic Italian food in the area. As is often the case with real Italian restaurants, the menu is also very reasonably priced. The staff is superb, always making my wife and I feel like honoured guests, attentively seeing to our needs, and never making us feel in any way rushed. The restaurant is conveniently located in the centre of town, close to both the cathedral and the Marlowe Theatre. In short, I cannot recommend this establishment enough, and I always find it difficult to understand why anyone would pass up Posillipo for one of the mediocre (at best) pseudo-Italian chains that populate the High Street."

"Probably not after this recent visit. The whole place was very cold. It wasn’t enjoyable to have the meal when it was so cold around. I get that it was very cold out last week but still. I feel like my meal wasn’t as good this time, compared to how wowed I was on my last visit in the summer. Mine was more like warm than hot. All though my dad ordered the same and his was served piping hot. Would still come and eat here again but was disappointed after this visit on Wednesday."

"Luckily we booked as this is a particularly busy place, however this means the staff are pretty rushed and therefore I didn’t feel there wasnt any personal touches, as in a chat with your clientele or a smile from the guy who showed us to our table, the waitress who served us was very nice. The food was ok, not really seasoned and quite bland, the tea was warm, not piping hot as it should be. This is a busy restaurant, mainly because of the name, I don’t live far away and would visit here again if everything had been really good, however I went to non branded restaurant later that day where the staff were happy to chat and be busy and the food was delicious and hot. Sorry Bills"
